How do you snap living quarters to the foundation things?
I made 4 "Foundation Grid" objects and they all snapped to each other... but when I go to build the Living Compartment it dose not snap?

Like I can look up in the air and build pretty much anywhere... but how do I snap it neatly to the foundations?

A common complaint. You can't.

What is the point of them then if things don;t snap to them?

That has been a complaint since the game released. If it bugs you refund or move on cause it will never get fixed

I do not think it is worth refunding for, but it is absolutely ridiculous. In fact I can not think of a single game that dose not do it, and the stupid thing is that they use snapping all over the place in other objects of the game. It absolutely should be fixed before it leaves ea.

It has already left ea

The foundation grids are good for placing machines outdoors.

I do not use the foundations for buildings as they do not really fit together and look ugly under buildings. It bugged me a little when I first started playing. Now, I just imagine that the buildings suspended in the air is a science fiction effect of an advanced civilisation.

Yes, that one of the time consumingst things in the game and very very bad implemented.

The Building Part of this game is very rudimentary more like pre Beta.
I have all my Buildings on Foundations but it was a annoing trial and error.

You do it in the opposite order: First place living quarters in the air, then place the foundations below it, burying them partially in the ground as needed.

That is how I do it too. Find they snap under it and then the foundations snap togther. The building hangs over it but it still works

The devs should never have called them "foundations." They're useful but every builder/survival player wants to use them in a way the game doesn't support (or require).

OOOh im very glad they dont snap, that would be a freedom of building dissaster!!

And why have a foundation exept infront of a door, its space, you can do watever you want...no need for traditionell thinking!

I use them as decoration, and for building things in rocky areas. There's a cave on Humble that's WAY too artificially dark, so I am building foundations and installing floodlights and signs to help me find my way in and out again. They need foundations placed first, or you can't build them.

As a take, this is particularly bad. The entire point of them existing is to make it look like you have a solid foundation under your space capsule, to improve immersion. There's is literally no gameplay reason they couldn't snap, and yet also, not snap. That's not how building works in games. Snap is a good default, being able to turn it off and place something where you want, is also possible. Many systems have this.

This is why we can't have nice things - people act like they haven't already been done and can't be copied or claim it's alright to live with a bad thing, because they've found a way around it's inadequacy. No. Identify problems, fix them. Look at other people's work, implement their proven solutions.

Some people are always trying to ice skate up hill.
