Humble Basecamp
Not gonna lie, having a lil hard time getting into Humble since there are not a lot of open spaces, and I hate myself. Anyone got a good suggestion for where they put their first base?

If you walk out the pod and keep going, there's a little mound with a pre existing camp. I make my base there. My first run through it was a bit messy, but this time I set it higher and slightly back and it seems to be fine. There are a few places that look good, but for some reason I just keep going there.

I use the same as SealieP. But the Ice are beyond could be a good candidate.

Forgive my intrusion but I wanted to ask around to those that have tied out the DLC, is it really worth it or is it just the same old stuff on a different planet because from my view of what I'm seeing, I don't really see any new stuff.

There are spectacular flat zones, wide open flats. You need to explore more.
These will never flood.

New ores and machines and new biomes. And a new storyline.

It's half the size map wise. it does bring in a new element of having to use an ore extractor for a few types of ore. It seemed a bit harder my first play through, but then they added more ore on the ground so I imagine it will be easier now. There is a different storyline. But overall it's the same feel. I'm glad I got it. I enjoy the gameplay. It's just a different taste of the game.

It's nice to be able to play on a different map - the differences to how you extract the various ores and the 'depth' of the planet vs the 'breadth' of Prime make it feel less 'same old, same old'. The differences in the early game play make it more of a challenge for those of us who've played the game for a while too

For the price, IMO the DLC is worth getting

i put my base below the lion king mountain and put a roof over it to prevent asteroid rubble

I put my first Home Base near the drop pod, but I had to be careful to maneuver it between the weird, coral pillars. It's next to that huge pile of rocks to the east of the drop pod.

I'm building a second major base to the NW, now that I'm finding larva lying all over the place. The new base is going to be my Insect Lab and it's next to that lake with all the giant, coral fans to the north of the drop pod.

My map also currently has about 17 little stations scattered around it so I can replenish oxygen or hide from meteors. Most of them have water and food available, but a few still need work.

I JUST moved out of Cigarette Butt Forest today. I moved my base to the bottom of the hill leading to the sulfur area, cause there is a nice flat area to put my rocket/rover/trade rocket complex down. I think it might be decentralized though.

Edit: It's been convenient to get bauxite and uranite though

My first base was just up the hill, immediately behind the pod. It has a small to mid size amount of clear land to build on. And if you don't mind building a multi-level base, it a fine area. Also when the ocean cove area opens up, there is a vine right there to climb down to begin exploring that area.
