I have at least 15-20 depending on their bonus%
Build rockets in each until the teraforming numbers start ticking over again.
I had an average 13 with pressure heat and oxygen. 17 with insects in some only 3 for animals..
Bee Hives lvl 2 for example increase insects as well.
Butterfly farms .
I generally don't tend to have more than a half-dozen of each type at most - I find if I do more than that, the planet goes through its changes so fast I don't get enough time to enjoy it. So for me, a half-dozen of each is plenty, although I have several games where I only did three of each, however when you have so few, the end-game stage seems to take rather too long.
So for me, generally I'll do three of everything up to the animals stage, then I'll put up three more of everything, that keeps the early game slow enough and the end game fast enough to suit my tastes.
Basically though, if it works for you, awesome - if it doesn't, well hey, just do what seems right to YOU. You're the one playing, so your opinion counts most.
In normal games I never really need more and do silly things like make ten of each just because it's a nice round number. Completely irrational :D
But the bigger thing that can slow you down is going to the loo, hearing 'ding' and having no idea that it said 'Tier 4 Heater unlocked' and not checking when you get back to your desk.
Keep the heaters, ore extractors, drills and so on updated.
Make sure you get a bee hive as soon as you can, and a butterfly farm and a frog farm etc. Even one makes a huge difference to the biological terraforming factors.
And rockets can be a very easy way, depending on the rocket, to generally speed up progress. Sometimes you can launch the rocket but not build the other thing that would add to that stat - so you can't build a plant producer at the current level, but have something doing it, and can release a plant rocket. So do that.
Some of it is highly dependent on what you loot from crates of course - if you find rockets that makes life easier but you might find mutagen or something else you need and isn't readily available.
