Best Way to Get Larva on Humble?
So, when I started my first play-through on Humble and got to the Larva stage they were spawning at my base on the surface. Now it seems that's been fixed and they're only spawning in the caves. (Which I really don't understand, this planet is no more inhospitable that the first one.) On the first planet I never had to worry about larva after getting the first few because they would spawn as I was running around outside my base working on things. But now it seems like my only choices are either 1. Build my base in the caves or 2. Go to the caves and stand around for ages hoping I'll get a rare larva. (Which is where I'm at right now trying to make butterflies.)

How are you all handling larva collection?

Thanks in advance.

Larva spawning has been a issue for some time. If you are not getting larva to spawn, save and close the game then restart. You should get larva to spawn immediately.
Larva will appear both underground and on the surface.
The best place I have found is on the beach of the island off the cliffs.
you can get golden(1500), serena(1200) lorpen (700) and alben (700) as well as the common, uncommon and rare varieties. Serena especially are very abundant. I collect these and recycle to give rare larva.

Yeah, beach is the best area. I found the area just east of the sulfur where you find bauxite and big holes in the ground, has a lot of flat open space with no vegetation so I build extractors there and it's easy in any ground like that to find larva too. It's easier to get to than the beach, but you get raw ingredients there, not full on 1,200% butterflies.

I have had near normal larva spawning on humble my last two saves. the beach still has some blue butterflies, but it is no longer the only place to get common/uncommon/rare in any quantities. They are pretty much everywhere you would expect, although toned down compared to prime. VERY manageable.

In my Humble game larva used to spawn everywhere just like on Prime. Now they only spawn on the top of a high mountain. They often float in the air.

Go to beach through columns and then move slowly. Big island off beach go to the little one next to it. No jetpack move slowly they will spawn in around you.

IIRC there's a log (or several) noting from predecessors that they'll 'first start appearing' in the caves. I'm not beyond the larvae stage yet so I can't comment but hopefully they eventually turn up on the surface

I agree with what others have said, go to the beach, you will find HEAPS of different varieties. Walk along the beach where the old building is. Just walk around and stop then wait and they will appear including along the water edge and up the slope to where the old abandoned pods are, I find GOLDEN ones there sometimes.

If you read the messages on the drones, it says the larva will only spawn underground. So they will not appear on the surface.

It *says* that ;)

You will also eventually unlock the Ecosystem, which is a nice structure that generates larva in a container.

NOT TRUE. They do spawn on the beach in the plentiful!

Yes, and other locations that are even more accessible the bauxite mining area to the north east near the sulfur for instance .

I wonder if they start spawning anyway because you've hit a terraforming level and the lore note was wrong, or based on a lower level of terraforming?

My terraforming level on Humble is to the point where everything has been unlocked in the main unlock screen, and I'm still lucky if I find 1 or 2 larvae per session. The only place I have found them is in the volcanic rock surface area, no other place has had them and I've searched for hours.

I haven't had any problems with finding them, you just have to be on the ground walking for them to show up, I have so many that I'm over whelmed at times. I have seen people on YOU Tube that use the jet back to look for them, they will show up when you are on the ground, at least with me.

I've walked everywhere on the ground (not even running), peering through the grass, and have came up empty so far. I use the jetpack to get to different areas, then walk around for 20+ minutes before flying off to a new place when I don't find any. :bummer:
