There is no need to move any files. The full version recognizes demo saves as valid.
anyone know where save game files are stored so i can move them manually on the linux backend?
YMMV on the advice below, but this worked for me on a full desktop Linux environment.
You can get to it and move it to the new spot and it worked (at least for me it did after playing the demo for 5 hours today) - There is some digging you have to do to find it, but if you want to keep your progress
Best to do a file search (I am on KDE and kfind or dolphin works well for this. (searching for the "Standard-1.json") save file, or a wildcard *.json search if you prefer.
Here is what I did to find it:
- As mentioned in other comments if you are playing a "standard" game - the file name for the save should be "Standard-1.json" - That for me in the demo was found in the
- I launched the full version of the game, then created a new save file, then closed out. I searched again and the new environment path for the full game was at
- NOTE: the folder name after the "compdata" directory is random, so you cannot search by a reliable folder name, I just sorted by modified time and those two folders were basically next to each other in timestamp.
- I copied the file name from the demo path to the new path location, relauched the game and my save and progress was intact.
- Bonus - I got all the Steam achievements up to that point also which was interesting because I have a buddy who has 100% the game and has no steam achievements (and he's a Linux guy also)
