You can send excess larvae from the ecosystems directly to the trash can module (whatever it's called) and set it to kick off when it's full. Thus if you want bees but not uncommon, get rid of the uncommon ones and it leaves room for bees. I do that so there's room in my hives for honey and just have a storage crate full of bee larva in case I want more in a hurry. Otherwise tier 2 hives fill up with larva over time as the drones take the honey.
