Please add support for limiting storage container contents to certain types of items
Currently requesting multiple types of items to a storage container is completely useless because it will just fill up with whatever gets delivered first if you have enough of it. It would be nice to be able to either set a filter on every inventory square manually or check a box next to the demand item list that says "demand equal amounts" that would divide the container by the number of items you demand and make sure that no more than that will go into the container for each item type.

Eg. if you have a container of size 10 (just an eg.) and you request iron and aluminum. With the "demand equal amounts" checked, the container will contain at most 5 iron and at most 5 aluminum. If you have enough of both the container will always be full with exactly 5 iron and 5 aluminum.

This would allow us not needing one storage container per item type and we could use larger containers more effectively.

Why is it not effective to have one item per container?? I have at least two or more containers of every item. No need to mix things.

This. I keep 1 storage locker of each of the materials in the game, two if I find myself constantly filling up and needing more (algae and water bottles, mostly).

And that's without using the T2 lockers, which I don't want to because those have animations and I don't want a ton of animated items in the base dragging FPS down so I'll just stick with the T1s.

Later on in the game, the basic materials are very rarely used, it's all alloy, osmium, iridium, uranium, etc and you're probably not going to be overflowing with those. And earlier in the game, there's usually not much reason to have several lockers worth of basic materials.

For many reasons. I'm post drones and I have one t2 container for every item as well because there is no other way to do it now. But due to limitations in auto crafter range, the sheer number of item types in the game, having one storage for each is too much. Your auto crafters can't reach all things they need even if you put them like I did on a second floor with all the storage below them, sometimes they don't work because some of their items are out of range. So it would be useful to make a storage container beside the auto crafter that requests all the things that crafter needs in one storage box thus taking less physical space and less manual setup.

I don't know your setup, but I run on High setting with an RTX 3060 12gb. I7-11700, 16GB ram. I have no FPS issues and my base is all filled with the T2 containers. I get a solid 50 to 60 FPS with no heat issues. In case you decide to upgrade to them.

They must have further optimized the game then, because I remember back before the Volcano update, I had stuff like power plants, grass spreaders, flower spreaders, etc near the base and my FPS was tanking down to 20-30 with a Ryzen 5 5600G and a 3050.

So ever since then, I tried to tuck machines that have moving parts out of view of the base just in case.

Build 3 floors (3x3 rooms), then you can put storage on the first and third floor, auto crafters in the middle, and you have twice as much real estate to put the storage in the proper range of the crafters.
If you need to, build another storage for the item(s) that may be shared between recipes, but the auto crafters are too far apart.
That, or re-organize the crafters/storage so everything is in range on the first and third floor.
It's an easy problem to solve. Just make an auto crafter sandwich.
