Game has become extremely unstable

I'm getting crashes to desktop every 10 or so minutes now, wasn't the case before version 1

Version 1.0 upped the specs some. Is your system overheating? Is it up to specs? Have you verified all the files and all that? A little more info might help. Are you getting a crash report??

I randomly all of a sudden had 2 crashes this week in this game too. Worked fine the past 50hrs. I will try to ctrl-alt-delete and see what is going on but can't click anything. Computer needs to be hard reset. Very weird

I was just watching a guy stream, has a beefy new rig but the game was beginning to crash on him every couple minutes.

I recommended checking the event viewer logs, he did, it was the planetcrafter . dll, as would be expected.

I suggested a Steam verify, no problem found.

next suggested running Samsung Magician to see if his storage was up to date. All M.2's needed firmware updating.

I suggested after he got around to updating those drives, to uninstall and reinstall the game and then see how things were.

High-end system have typically two main issues: unstable XMP and unstable i9 due to bad mobo defaults. See Troubleshooting FAQ for resolutions.

Tom's Hardware rates the 6800 XT as #14 on the 2024 GPU rankings... the 3060 isn't ranked because it's too low, sorry

It is a DirectX/Driver related crash.

• Try running the game without Google Chrome or the Discord App app running in the background.
  
• Since you have a Z790, those tend to blast power into Intel CPUs, although you have an i5. Make sure PL1 and PL2 are less than 181W and test again.
  
• If you did a BIOS update recently, reapply the same BIOS update.

I've checked XTU and set my PL1 and PL2 settings to 140W and 180W respectively. Still crashes. No Discord open, no BIOS update recently.

Same crash as the one after the driver update. Try the development branch as it has a newer game engine.

You're looking only at the OP's i5 part and probably not realising the 13600 is a new cpu and actually pretty good. I bought my i5 12600kf recently and it's great. Better than some i9's. Not all i9's are good. My newer i5 is faster than your older i9 and is mostly better value for money. Also since you're dissing the other guys system, your ddr4 ram is slower our ddr 5 too. So no his system isn't pants, its actually pretty decent.
