You have taken what is, at the start, a lifeless ball and turned it into an Eden, using your personal standard of what Eden would be like. Right? The colony ships will launch soon, and YOU own everything. Sentinel Corp said that you own NOTHING, but what you build.
And you just BUILT the damn planet. YOU gave it life. You BUILT life.
So YOU should be able to make sure that whoever comes to live where YOU built, wants to settle, Meets YOUR standards. Right?
That's power.
Why leave?
Guide/rule the colony. Riley comes and is the love of your life.
That is MY best ending.
So yeah, in game you can stay on the planet any time you want but I don't believe that in lore you have such a choice. Your task is finished, choose one of the three available options on how your current story ends.
Also terraformation isn't that big of a deal. They have a whole program for that. They do it massively in the past tens of years, if one out of the thousands of criminals succeeds, that's a win for them. You are not a god because of doing that, you are just one of the successful ones who did what they were supposed to do. Don't let it go to your head.
I hope the game developer add more to the game, if they haven't abandon this one yet.
I find this as incredibly depressing as I find all the other endings. I can't argue with your logic. Sentinel can take this planet from us if and when they choose. I was hoping to hide behind the Warden device, but yeah, if they send armed people down in pods like ours, how would we fight them? Possibly we could hide, as we know this planet much better than they do. Theoretically, we could go to an agreeable location through the portal and set up base there (using lore rather than game rules) but we'd eventually be found, even if we set a bomb to blow up the portal after we went through. The planet is only so big and there must be detection devices usable from orbit after they destroyed the anomaly.
Shrug. Personally, I'm glad I can just ignore logic and stay on my world. None of the other endings are remotely appealing.
Never Sentinel corps will be able to land because i have not destroyed the anomaly.
kinda lame all endings are or have a "nothing matters" feel to it, is the writer on the dev team depressed?
This is MY best ending. Not yours.
Apparently I either misread, or the devs altered, the message where we are told that we own nothing. I seem to recall it said you will own nothing except "what you build."
Either way, I have built a paradise. I want to stay.
I have been here for years. Alone.
You want to go back to a city? With people? And noise? And disease?
No thanks.
Those wrecks we can't explore? I want to explore them.
This suit? limited air supply? Why?
I want to take the suit off and breathe the air that I made.
I want to swim in MY lakes.
I want to befriend the animals.
I did the work. I want the reward of idyllic solitude.
With the potential of human companionship.
Smuggle in the wife and kids. If they exist.
Riley? Yup. Male or hopefully female joins us.
This is, after all, MY story.
Besides, I was framed. In my story.
I'm with jwebbed001 in this. The only 'ending' that is not deeply depressing is basically NOT choosing any of the oficial endings.
Let's hope that the devs have gotten better by them and make a more optimistic ending by them.
* Smugglers cannot be trusted
* Sentiel Corp immediately sticks you in a holding cell
* Wardens kept running away from humans for good reasons. How likely is it that they will be happy you followed them? To them it must be like 'oh no, they have found us again'.
Regardless of which ending you pick, in character, you are effed.
Personally I like wardens most. Hoping they won't be mad at that one random dude in his rocket.
i hope they add a positive ending that lets us take over the planet and be the next warden. add city like structures and more trade options with visiting NPCs....
