Best Ending in your opinion?
I am going with the Warden Ending. It is just outright more interesting than the other two.

They are all pretty similar, all hint at there being The Planet Crafter 2 later. Sentinel Corps will drop only some of your sentence because you broke some rules and bypassed their unlock system and give you a choice to terraform another planet, Wardens will be unlucky again and end up on another dying planet so you will be able to terraform it too while learning the rest of their history, Smugglers will be fools to not utilize the ability to terraform and loot another planet. Warden ending is more to my liking because you stay alone in that one, instead of trying to go back to civilization or joining criminals again.

OK, My best ending is staying.
You have taken what is, at the start, a lifeless ball and turned it into an Eden, using your personal standard of what Eden would be like. Right? The colony ships will launch soon, and YOU own everything. Sentinel Corp said that you own NOTHING, but what you build.
And you just BUILT the damn planet. YOU gave it life. You BUILT life.
So YOU should be able to make sure that whoever comes to live where YOU built, wants to settle, Meets YOUR standards. Right?
That's power.
Why leave?
Guide/rule the colony. Riley comes and is the love of your life.
That is MY best ending.

In lore that is not possible. Colony ships won't come until Sentinel Corps sends them. You are not allowed to own anything, so Sentinel Corps will take everything from you and punish you for insubordination. Even if you didn't destroy the anomaly it only protects you from enemy ships but not from boarding parties using same pods that you used to land but having weapons opposed to you who only has a recipe for a bomb with manual activation, nothing else which can protect you. You will have a choice to either build a ton of bombs and eventually explode everything you built or to not being able to protect anything. Initially they ignored you and only sent automated messages because they send a ton of prisoners to terraform different planets and most of them die anyway, so it isn't worth it contacting everyone manually to check their progress. But final few messages are not automated anymore, so they took notice of your planet now and have given you the final task just to test if you comply, they don't specifically need you to do it and can easily drop new people on the planet now that there is no issue surviving on it.

So yeah, in game you can stay on the planet any time you want but I don't believe that in lore you have such a choice. Your task is finished, choose one of the three available options on how your current story ends.

Also terraformation isn't that big of a deal. They have a whole program for that. They do it massively in the past tens of years, if one out of the thousands of criminals succeeds, that's a win for them. You are not a god because of doing that, you are just one of the successful ones who did what they were supposed to do. Don't let it go to your head.

"Wait for updates" ending.
I hope the game developer add more to the game, if they haven't abandon this one yet.

I find this as incredibly depressing as I find all the other endings. I can't argue with your logic. Sentinel can take this planet from us if and when they choose. I was hoping to hide behind the Warden device, but yeah, if they send armed people down in pods like ours, how would we fight them? Possibly we could hide, as we know this planet much better than they do. Theoretically, we could go to an agreeable location through the portal and set up base there (using lore rather than game rules) but we'd eventually be found, even if we set a bomb to blow up the portal after we went through. The planet is only so big and there must be detection devices usable from orbit after they destroyed the anomaly.

Shrug. Personally, I'm glad I can just ignore logic and stay on my world. None of the other endings are remotely appealing.

For some reason the actual endings seem fine to me, not depressing, while staying on the planet seems like the worst case scenario.

Do not do a subnautica.

My best ending : Stay on MY planet with all the animals companions and the comfort of a cozy base.

Never Sentinel corps will be able to land because i have not destroyed the anomaly.

Why not? You landed without issues. Criminals before you also landed. Anomaly only messes with the large ships that have to use drives and navigation systems (remember the crashed warp gate that was only affected after they tried to activate it?). Drop pods with squads of marines will land (or, well,"drop" as they are supposed to do) just fine. You only had issues in the beginning because the planet wasn't habitable, they won't have such issues thanks to you.

This is MY best ending. Not yours.
Apparently I either misread, or the devs altered, the message where we are told that we own nothing. I seem to recall it said you will own nothing except "what you build."
Either way, I have built a paradise. I want to stay.
I have been here for years. Alone.
You want to go back to a city? With people? And noise? And disease?
No thanks.
Those wrecks we can't explore? I want to explore them.
This suit? limited air supply? Why?
I want to take the suit off and breathe the air that I made.
I want to swim in MY lakes.
I want to befriend the animals.
I did the work. I want the reward of idyllic solitude.
With the potential of human companionship.
Smuggle in the wife and kids. If they exist.
Riley? Yup. Male or hopefully female joins us.
This is, after all, MY story.
Besides, I was framed. In my story.

I said before and will repeat: For a game that is literally you bringing life back to a lifeless planet, all those endings are all, without exception, pretty lifeless themselves.

I'm with jwebbed001 in this. The only 'ending' that is not deeply depressing is basically NOT choosing any of the oficial endings.

Let's hope that the devs have gotten better by them and make a more optimistic ending by them.

There is no 'good' ending.

* Smugglers cannot be trusted
* Sentiel Corp immediately sticks you in a holding cell
* Wardens kept running away from humans for good reasons. How likely is it that they will be happy you followed them? To them it must be like 'oh no, they have found us again'.

Regardless of which ending you pick, in character, you are effed.

Personally I like wardens most. Hoping they won't be mad at that one random dude in his rocket.

all are negative, you can try them all. i assume there is really no ending now just achievements. the final test is to get 500k TT.

i hope they add a positive ending that lets us take over the planet and be the next warden. add city like structures and more trade options with visiting NPCs....
realfunkhaus Apr 25, 2024 @ 10:40am
I don't really like the Warden ending - the ones that left were NOT the same as the fatalistic ones who stayed and died out. They seemed more open-minded and adaptable than those they left behind, so their message of doom (apparently placed before they even left the planet) doesn't make sense to me... Perhaps we'll get an answer on that if there is ever a TPC2.
