yes, since you're gonna have more than enough plants gain to get it well before everything else while waiting on the others... I had almost completed each of the others by the time the tree stage was complete and now I'm waiting for the bug stage to get to it while pumping insects into the world via butterfly dome(yay for the wardens....)
If someone is pretty lacking in Heaters, but pushes drills REALLY hard, they'll get pressure tech unlocks before heat tech unlocks. But either path might unlock general Terraforming at the same time. A lumberjack will sell 100 dollars of wood, a fisherman will sell 100 dollars of fish, but they'll still have 100 dollars.
What the bee hive does for me is to remind me to look in the messages screen to see if the ancients quest line has unlocked and if it has to go and get the end reward. That can be used soon.
