The Planet Crafter

how do you solve mid game resources issue?
At some point in mid game - maybe this is an early mid game, dont know really - we need to roll energy production to build more powerfull structures. But the best way to produce electric power is by building nuclear reactors... and these consume lots of uranium, which is very scarce. I have four reactors and I guess I could build one, maybe two more with remaining uranium... and that is it. I cant extract uranium because of not having access to T2 Ore Extractor, so I can use only deposits of uranium. I could go on stronger with Solar Generators, but these require alluminium which not that scarce, but still not very available.

Currently with my four reactors (T1) Im using three ore extractors - two in iridium cave, one in allu zone. I dont have enough resources to place more extractors, so I have steady but very limited flow of allu and iridium... and of course all other minerals.

I know that I can build just 100 solars and even use remaining resources to produce super alloys, but I guess it will take ages... and lots of walking. Is there a better tactics to fill gap before I get my hands on T2 Ore Extractors?

I'm so sorry you can't take gentle correction without taking offense.

Who is offended? Have a great day.
im playing the game by sending 1 rocket of each and only 1 rocket. So im not that worried about not having enough uranium. I focused on exploring and i found way more uranium, uranium roods, iridium, and iridium rods, and more higher end rss (lots of types of quartz, and other rss) that i know what to do with at the moment.
Im focusing on exploring and actually dismantled all heat generating devices since im more into exploring, mining, and crafting now.
Only 28 hrs in and at 80MTI. you should explore more and youll find more of what you need rather than just focus on little stuff near you.
good luck and have fun!

Im 16 hours into the game and around 48MTI so it is not that bad, I guess. Im doing lots of exploring, but I try to share my time - building some stuff and walking around. I've found source of quartz recently and at this stage only resource I need is alluminium - with three T1 ore extractors I get barely enough to move on with construction, not to mention super alloys production. I guess I will need to build two more extractors and then try to snowball this somehow.

Anyway, after sending rocket and gaining some uranium I feel that only bottleneck is alluminium since it is needed for most of the constructions and for super alloys, which are also required quite often. From three extractors I get 5-10 pieces of allu, depending on my luck.
There's a whole lot of super alloy near the middle of the map where there's a maze of narrow canyons. Make your way to a clearing with a wreck that you can climb to get to the cliffs in the middle of the plateus to find it. Also if you find the place where sand flows like a waterfall, (Not the iridium cave, past that) you can find a lot of super alloy inside that flowing sand.
What's best for energy though is fusion, smaller and more powerful. Pulsar quartz sometimes comes down in meteors later in the game. You can also find small amounts in a dark biome with white striped rocks, lots in the rainbow caves, and more deep inside various other tunnels and caverns once they thaw out. Late game you can craft it, automate the crafting, and have an endless supply to build a couple hundred fusion reactors with.

The Recycler does that. I'm only correcting you because there's a Shredding machine that destroys objects without giving you anything in return, and it's important to draw the difference.

While what you said about the Optimizer and power fuses is correct, that arrives long after you've moved on from fission power, and thus isn't that helpful for the original poster.

You gave false information and are now mad that you got called out for it. Pathetic. :steamfacepalm:

You are. That much is obvious by your retort where you basically doubled-down on your false info. Thick skin and the ability to admit your mistakes are good traits to have in this world.

But fusion comes later, I still dont have this unlocked. I can build only T2 nukes, but if I remember correct they require powder that I cant craft anyway, so Im stuck with T1 nukes. But it is okay, maybe not best solution in terms of efficiency, but does its job. At this stage I dont need pulsar quartz, so I have more than I need ;-P

I know right? Just like hitting alt+F4 will upload your cloud save to steam, I tell people this and I don't understand why they get offended either. :borednorb:

I remember that stage.

Explosive powder unlocks really early when you start with plant life. Unfortunately, T2 nuclear plants are only slightly more efficient that T1 plants. You get 25% more power per uranium rod, which is helpful, but not amazing.

Until you unlock fusion, though, it's going to be a lot of scrabbling for uranium.
I'm not much further then where you are. Rather then 2 iridium and 1 aluminum extractor, I did 2 aluminum and 1 iridium. You need a lot of alluminum to make superalloy for a lot of the mid tier stuff, and the T1 extractors in alluminum give lots of resources to make the superalloy with. I actually set up a room next to my two extractors with another advanced constructor to build the superalloy there on site.

I did this at that stage as well. I think it's good practice for that stage of the game. Aluminum is critical at that stage, you get a lot of secondary products from a T1 extractor, and it saves time to make the superalloy on-site.
Others have shared some great advice on the power struggle, which I also had early on at that point. I would say though if you are not finding many iridium or uranium rods, you should look to upgrade your exploration toolkit of items to allow you to explore safely.

Backpack, agility legs and oxygen tank - Get highest level you can support at current tech

Load up on 3-4 o2, h20 and food items each. Once you have unlocked jets, travel by jet not by foot, it is much faster. Doing the above, you'll be able to get around the map much faster in less time, allowing you to really explore regions and find all the chests (there are tons every biome). That should remove the issue around Uranium lock until you can unlock fusion generators.
Throw some extractors in the uranium cave. I have more uranium than I can use and I’m mid-game.
