Map
Hello everyone, I played this a bit during development and since 1.0 finally happened I came back. I just started my game and I'm wondering. Is the map/planet always the same configuration or is it randomly generated? Thanks

The main map is static. It never changes, but eventually you get to where you can portal to procedural wrecks that are always different. You can randomize your ore in the setting before starting a new game. Other than that, everything stays the same.

Got it! Thanks
With the Ore randomizer the game can be pretty hard. My last play with this option was a doomed one. No iron, no kobalt, no titan, no chest near and no construction kit for the suit. So I basically f''ked up and restart the game - also with ore randomized but this time I have iron and cobalt (another starting location - waterfall). So I could craft some oxygen. Surviving is hard but possible. Good Luck to you.

Did they ever fix Random Ore Gen to pick a different seed each time? Back in EA, once you clicked Random Gen. the first seed you got is the only seed you could ever have, and the ore placement would never change again.

TL;DR I think they have. I found uranium in the "iridium cave" during one custom game with Randomize Ore, but found silicon there in another.

I had played Early Access, so playing V1 seemed kind of tame. After reading the above I tried Custom settings including random starting location, no meteors, and Randomize Ore. And failed utterly as Tialuna Rem-Iskalia described.

My fourth try, I re-enabled meteor strikes. Lo and behold, common meteors still consist of iron, titanium, silicon, magnesium, cobalt, and aluminum. So, the sand may be littered with osmium and obsidian, but I sometimes had to bide my time until the next meteor shower provided materials I needed. (BTW, the crate may be more valuable than its contents, when iron is scarce).

My EA experience is proving invaluable because materials become available in the wrong order. For example, I found finally iron deposits where obsidian would have been. I'm still looking for a good source of uranium, (I checked two uranium caves: they contain sulfur).
