I feel like I've done something wrong

So I'm in breathable atmosphere stage, almost to fish (80%). At that point I'm supposed to unlock T3 Mutagen, but I haven't even unlocked T2 mutagen. I'm only at 19t of insects and it needs 50t. I see there is an insect rocket, but I'm still 5kt of biomass short of that as well. What am I supposed to do at fish stage with no ability to get mutagen above T1?

I have 2 butterfly domes, 5 butterfly farms (one with a 1500% golden butterfly, which used the only T2 Mutagen I've yet ever found in crates to make), and 6 beehives.

it actually produces more than just what is currently showing when you open it. It's like a random chance of spitting out Phytoplankton A, B, C, fish or frog eggs and where you place it matters. There's several locations on the map that will be the only spot to get certain eggs.

It will make all of the A, B, and C if you keep it emptied. Exactly what MossRock42 Said.

Yeah, finally got some others out of it, though it produces a lot of A. The first run at it was litterally ALL A. Second time around I got one B and one of the 100% fish eggs... and the rest all A again. RNG does not like me, but I finally got fish on my planet. Got three aquariums up and running now so progress. I'm no longer going to hit amphibian stage still fish-less.

It's alot easier when you get drones and can keep it cleared and loading storage. I have a large container of each. So it will get better.

I've had drones running for a while.... back before I even got into Fish stage. I had drones, T3 miners of every resource, and was halfway built on a silk terra token farm before I finally unlocked the item to get photoplankton. I wasn't joking about jumping in the portal generator when I couldn't figure out how to get that stuff for the fish, I had just unlocked that at the same time as I unlocked the water of life machine, and had enough resources to build it (I had a couple spare production conduits from crates I sent off in the trade rocket so I could buy the energy conduits for it)
