I have 1 big storage field where every storage is set to demand 1 item. 10 storages per item in a row. The one in front has priority 5, all behind has priority 1.
Outside of this storage there is a Ore 1+2 Farm to collect the basic ores with priority 5 and supply them.
A aluminium field has also ores to extract aluminium. These are set to priority 0, but drones are collecting there mainly instead of in the near ones being full or half full all the time. Sometimes a drone picking up stuff there, but thats it, mostly all fly the long route to a not prioritized location.
Also sometimes to much drones fly for 1 item, making.
Edit: Oh and maybe check if you have enough drones. I noticed that they tend to just ignore/don't get to some ressources if they can't keep up with over all demands
When I go exploring, I set up a little base, put a few lockers in it, and set them to supply so the drones will come get my stuff for me and bring it to base. If I don't set them to priority 5, it may takes days for them to get around to getting those things from the remote locations.
The closer your suppliers are to the drone station, the sooner they'll get the stuff from the machines/lockers. The farther away something is, the longer it takes for them to go get the stuff because they may get preempted by a closer thing.
So make more drones. You can also make more drone stations in various parts of the world. Proximity seems to be an important factor.
I have several drones left and parked and stacked... and I also have several free units for them, but "in this location" 1813:21:1890 they don't search at all = (
yes, I understand, I have a drone and free units left, but in this location they do not search for 1813:21:1890. Do you a favor, test it on your game to see if you can do it?
I already tried this, I created a base nearby, with a drone center, and I placed several drones there + a bunch of cabinets just for that, and even then the drones don't come in to get them. Please test in your game at this location 1813:21:1890 to see if they catch urani?
I have 8+ Ore extractors(plus many, many time dividers) at both Uranium locations but was always low and I noticed the mine to the East (base located in the middle) was being ignored, even though they had full boxes.
Long story short, you don't have enough drones.
I set up an auto-crafter to just make drones. Which means any time there is one open slot in the drone station a new drone is added.
I finally got the the point where the Drone station would not take any more drones and all my resources, both Uranium mines had endless strings of drones going back and forth, as I looked from the map.
But I was at 360ish drones, 4 rockets selling non-stop and at 900K+ tokens.
Bottom line, just add drones.
If you are perceiving a bug, add drones.
Also, periodically save and exit to get the automation to clean up from start if you just changed a lot of settings.

pls look my pritns images, the uranium is up there, but no drone goes there (
I have 868 drones, and only 600 are working, the others are parked at the base.

My drones will go idle when the Demands are full. And things will go quiet. And idle drones will stack up.
When ships land and require loading things pick back up.
