Farming money.
I know you can run portals to make a lot of money, but I think it would be interesting if there was a good way to make money from sending off the trade rockets. I've got what I call a factory set up with 3 auto crafters making pulsar quartz and 6 trade rockets auto selling, but each rocket only nets 625.

So I'm really hoping that at some point they add something to craft that is just for selling. I don't even mind if it is rather difficult to craft. I mean I've already got almost 200 T3 miners in the world so setting up auto harvesting systems doesn't bother me lol.

I tried bootstrapping the quest for 500,000 by buying 30,000 worth of fuses for each launch, then sending them right back up with the next launch. I got to 500,000 quickly but it appears you have to actually have 500,000 in your account and not just all time accumulation.

No, you get back 100% of what you paid. But the total adds to the net trade balance.
So I buy 5 energy fuses for 30,000, leave them in the rocket, and get 30,000 back when the rocket returns. So net is zero and I get no fuses but the total trade balance goes up by 30,000.

That works for the achievement, but not the ending.
best way to farm money without doing trade runs is divide and conquer. First, to me it makes numerical sense to craft/sell fusion cells instead of the pulsar quartz. PQ's are 25 tokens, nukes are 80 tokens, but require 3 PQ's, so it's a net gain of 5 tokens for the extra obsidian/osmium, which are usually abundant at that point. triple density means requires a third the shuttle trips for a bit better profit.

That's just one supply line. Now make separate automated supply lines for circuits. This one is limited by how many mushroom seeds you can get. After a few portal runs you'll usually have more than enough to maintain 3-4 trade rockets.

If you have ample uranium delivery could maybe have 1-2 rocket trade routes. would do those last as it takes a ton of drones/extractors to have enough Uran for pulsar quartz and rockets.

High quality food is easy to auto-fab in bulk. Can easy have a half dozen trade rockets running steady from just beans and honey.

Fabric is a scaling trade with no ceiling. With automated T2 beehives (from the HQ food chain), you'll have unlimited supply of bees. Recycled into uncommon larva, mutated to silkworms. Endless fabric production. Sure they're only 6 tokens each, but they add up fast.

You do bring up a good point that I was a little to focused on "oh this has higher number" instead of "oh I can mass produce the hell out of this". So for giggles I'm going to start mass producing HQ food and fabric to have a massive fleet of trade rockets going off. I can probably also get a good amount of circuits going if I convert all the mushroom seeds I have to farms.

Setting up a cloth fab is the first one I usually go for as its a very simple chain and relatively easy to expand. Other items net more tokens, but require a lot more supply and management to ensure its all working smoothly. For Fabric, I just drop a large cub, put an autocrafter or 2 in the middle and line the walls with silkworms. Set the supply and demand, then head off to do other things.

High Quality food is another comparatively easy one, a couple outdoor farms for beans and enough hives to match, easy.

I tried to get the 500k by trading stuff I can sell but I think the best thing we can sell is the fuse thing that opens up extra areas in wrecks and they sell for 80 each, after that it’s circuit boards or pulsar quartz for 25 each, I gave up in the end doing 1 portal run not only finds you terra tokens in chest usually anything from 5 to 15k but also 1/3 fuses per run selling for another 5 to 15k so really on one run you can make on a good run around 30/40k and it just doesn’t make sense to spend hours and hours to make 600 to 1000 when i can do a portal run in about 15 mins and get 30000+ terra tokens

why choose A or B, when you can have A *and* B.
all the supply line income options are for sure was less instant income than portal diving. However, once established, they are steady and automatic. typically zero maintanance. Plus, the extra farms/hives/extractors that the supply chain would require also passively add to the Ti generation. win-win all around.

Im unclear why you thought the smugglers didnt need the 500k in cash and would somehow accept money youve already spent.

Because the achievement does not require you to have the entire amount only that you collected it even if you spent it all.
I thought I would need the 500K but it took little effort to see if the same mechanic was in play and it didn't cost me anything to try.

Don't forget you can sell not only the items on the sell list but also the items on the buy list. When I do portal runs I find 1 to 5 power multiplier fuses every portal. I don't need that much power amplification so I sell at 6k a piece.

After you terraform you stop getting Fuses via portal trips. You actually stop getting much of any interest.

But making items like fusion cells for selling is not crazy hard. I'm over 1.4M tokens.

Uhhh false. I'm at 9TTI and just brought back 4 fuses minutes ago.
go fuses, go fuses, go fuses in wrecks. i have 76 TTi, running fabs selling rods, boards and all but nothing gets you quicker to 500k than fuses from wrecks., fill up your traderocket-slots with those looted fused directly after finishing the portal. after that, seek for a 5:{1,2,3} wreck, grab quartzes from your trunks and repeat...repeat, repeat. :)
