Completely incorrect. You don't need insect biomass to start getting Larvae, just to have your Terraformation Index level up to the Insect Stage (like "Lakes" and "Moss" and "Trees"). Terraformation Index is a raw summation of all other values (Heat, Pressure, Oxygen, Biomass) so you continue to advance levels as long as any of those are still going up. Once your TI has gotten high enough to be in the Insects Stage (according to the great big giant Terraformation Screen), then they'll just start popping up on the ground.
Thanks very much and also ♥♥♥♥ this game. I have nothing left to explore. I have all the boxes opened so no good resources in them anymore when they unlock. I've been sitting around, waiting for stuff to unlock. All I ever do is build terraforming things or build generators to keep going. Now I've unlocked the bee hive and still am at 400 MTi.
Not sure I will wait that long. Not like there's anything to do. Thanks anyway. At least one person can explain what "starting the insect level" means.

Dont sit and wait, consider this game to be an incremental clicker. Secure resources and just keep building stuff. If you cant find enough larvae then just focus on other things, for example flower spreaders. I dont know if this is a best tactics, but I try to focus on one or two most efficient available things. When I unlock some new and cool stuff I just move on to it, and build new things.
400MTI and you are at bee hive? I would suggest launching a lot more rockets, it speeds things up A LOT. You just cycle between iridium and uranium as needed and as long as you run for aluminum every so often you can skyrocket your Ti growth so you arent waiting for weeks for progress.
Sorry for the resurrect but I just started playing this game this week for the first time. I've been struggling to figure this out without looking up any info and your statement is so very helpful in explaining how this games terraforming works. Now I don't have to keep wracking my brain on how to get a bee larvae lol
