Storage
- how many storage units do you have set for Uranium Demand?
- what kind of storage units do you use for uranium?
- what is the demand priority of those storage units?
Drones
- how many drones do you have active?
- how many dronestations do you have active?
- where is/are your dronestation placed (central? specific location?)?
- what type of drone do you use (T1, T2 or mix)?
My personal experience:
* Storage Demand-priority is at least as important as Supply-priority.
* Distance//transfertime plays a role. If a drone can transfer a second U (or other resource) from spot-1 (or opther supplier) in less time it transfers 1 U from spot-2, they will wait for spot-1 supply (is problably what is happening here).
* placing dronestations near suppliers will help (decreases distance/transfertime).
* use a lot of drones, With lesser setup you described here, I needed 400+ T2 drones active and, sometimes multiple, dronestations near prime suppliers to get it running smooth.
With transfertime I mean the time needed between start location drone and supplier + time needed between supplier and storage.
I discovered the same phenomena with the algea generators... even when the T2 storage locker dessignated for algea where empty no drones where picking them up even though the generators had algea ready to be harvested... and the drones just idled at their drone station...
So yeah... it feels like there's some kind of limit to how many drones can fly at them same time...
Extremely irritating
They have to go everywhere. For everything.
They aren't amazon deliveries in seconds.
Build more drones.
Did you set the algae storage to the highest priority in your system? Are there other boxes with higher priority? It is very easy to accidentally forget to increase the priority of things and wind up with something neglected. I've never had an issue with them collecting algae, though it does seem like they prefer collecting mined resources. I just set the algae collection box to a priority 1 instead of a priority 0 like the other bins, and it got filled quick enough
STORAGE:
- several T2 Lockers (uranium one most times empty)
- T2 Lockers
- Priority 5 (supplies for my fusion-cell-to-traderocket-chain)
DRONES;
- 320 (drone-station lockers are full, i build more when those are empty)
- 5 Drone Stations
- 4 central at the mainbase, 1 right next to the miners the drones deny to empty.
- all T2 Drones
really, no idea why the drones refuse to go over there. prolly some distance-thing? on the map the 2nd uranium-cave looks closer.
I've built my base near the giant arch in the North East, but they have no problem going all the way over to the Zeolite cave near the spawn from the single station I built, as well as the volcano. I haven't built that many drills of a single type. Are drones being "lazy" for other resources? Have you tried changing what the drills provide in the cave to see if they will pick up something like Iron?
Looks like a combination of distance and not enough drones.
For distance the location of the drone at the moment it gets the order is relevant.
In your case the drone will be located at the storage. So the distance between storage and miner is relevant. The way you describe what happens, the drone algorithm seems to find the miners at spot-1 closer to the storage.
Also keep in mind that those drones are also used to replenish the storage for other items you need to produce those fusion cells. If for example the super-alloy storage also issues a drone-task with the same priority and the super-alloy mine is closer to the storage it will have preference over a delivery for uranium. And if that storage issues a new order before the delivery has taken place, that order will also be preferenced over the uranium one.
The drone algorithm seems to look at 2 things when assingning a task: demand priority and delivery-time. A free drone get the task assigned that has the highest demand-priority and the lowest delivery-time.
That is why you sometimes have a drone pick uranium from spot-2, That drone was probably stored in the drone-station near spot-2.
And some guesses.
1) The 5th drone station is located between the miners of spot-2 and the storage, not behind spot-2 (viewpoint from the storage).
2) the demand-priority for the rocket storage is also 5 and perhaps multiple rockets.
3) you have more processes (besides the fusion-cell production) active with storage at demand-priority 5.
4) your base is at the plane between the default start location and the maze, near the lake.
I think you need to increase the number of drones to fill your uranium storage faster.
Depending om the other processes that use drones, I think you should increase to at least 400 or even 480.
If you really really want to be on the safe side, deploy 1 drone for each slot you have in a storage that has demand-priority 5. That should give you enough room for all drone tasks, including lower priority tasks.
