Q: Game won't launch

The minimum requirement for the game since the Procedural Wrecks update is Windows 10 - x64 (or equivalent emulation on deck/linux/mac/etc). You'll have to upgrade to Windows 10 21H2 (build 19044) or later.

⚠️ Note that Windows 10 LTSB 2016 or 2019 is not enough to run the game. You need LTSB 2021 or later.

Add an exception for the game exe to your 3rd party antivirus or firewall app.

Q: Save doesn't load

Update or remove your mods. See Modding

Q: Save is corrupted

If you haven't saved since the corruption, locate the file %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter\Backup.json, make a copy of it and rename the copy to Restored.json or your chosing.

If you have Steam Cloud save enabled, download your save or backup from it and see if they work.

Q: Unable to move or interact with objects

Unplug your controller.
Update or remove your mods. See Modding

Q: My inventory is empty after loading a save

Q: I'm back at the escape pod when loading a save

Sometimes the Steam integration in the game is not working. Quit the game, log out of Steam, log back into Steam, start the game and load your save.

Q: Can't join my friend

Q: Joining my friend results in a black screen and kicked back to main menu

Make sure everyone is on the same game version and branch (none vs development).

Try the friend invite and the invite code approaches.

It may be caused by a usage of some kind of DNS, such as Cloudflare DNS service. The fix is to disable those kinds of services.

If using any 3rd party Antivirus or Firewall product, temporarily disable them and see if you can connect. Add an exception in those applications for the game.

If no 3rd party antivirus/firewall, temporarily disable the Windows built-in antivirus/firewall.

Log out of Steam, log back into Steam. Try the game & multiplayer.

Accidentally put the wrong stuff into the fusion reactor

Open your save from %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter in a text editor. Make a backup just in case.

Find the following inventory ids, "id":<number>, and empty their "woIds":"..." property in your save.

Q: Algae stops growing

Known bug, mostly happens after drones become available, no ETA on a fix. Save and reload every time you notice this happening.

Q: Game crashes randomly

Intel i7/i9 instability

If you have a high-end Intel system with i7 or i9 processor from 13th and 14th gen, there is an known hardware issue[www.tomshardware.com] with those and you'll have to downclock or power limit them in BIOS or XTU.

Update 19th June, 2024 See the official Intel specification for your CPU's settings.[community.intel.com] These settings should also be available via BIOS update with your motherboard vendor.

Update 16th August, 2024 Motherboard vendors have started releasing new BIOS versions which include CPU microcode update 0x129 that should prevent any further game instability. However, some CPUs may have been permanently damaged from the underlying issue already, thus if you encounter more instability, you'll have to RMA your CPU back to Intel to get it replaced.

Update October, 2024 Intel released the final CPU microcode update 0x12B. It is highly recommended to install it via a BIOS update of your board.

Memory OC instability

If you have an AMD system, return your memory to its non-XMP and non-EXPO settings. Remove all overclock, PBO, etc.

Corrupted game install

Verify game files via Steam. Uninstall and reinstall the game.

Run sfc /scannow.

If you installed the game on a removable drive, reinstall it on an internal drive. Possibly install it onto the OS drive.

3rd party app interference

Disable overlays:

• Steam overlay
  
• Discord overlay
  
• Windows game bar
  
• Any 3rd party overlay, such as perf monitoring, etc.

Atypical audio devices

The game may not launch and crash if you have multiple audio devices, such as Steam Streaming Speakers, VB-Audio VoiceMeeter, NVidia High Definition Audio.

Disable them in Device Manager, restart your computer and try the game again.

Other possible resolutions

Switch between Fullscreen Exclusive and Fullscreen Windowed mode. Even try plain Windowed mode.

Lower quality settings and/or limit framerate ingame or via your graphics drivers control panel to 60 FPS, or even less.

Update your graphics card drivers. Check latest versions here, download only from the official sites![videocardz.com]

Quit the Discord desktop app or disable hardware acceleration with it. Discord User Settings > App Settings > Advanced > Hardware Acceleration Off

Disable Windows fullscreen optimizations (10+) and/or windowed optimizations (11).

Reinstall Steam.

Upgrade Windows 10 to 22H2 with all patches. Upgrade Windows 11 to 23H2 with all patches.

Open the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MijuGames\Planet Crafter and delete the entire Planet Crafter folder.

Clear the DirectX shader cache via Disk Cleanup or reinstall your videocard driver.

Switch between balanced and performance power profiles.

Q: Black Screen or Computer Shutdown

Try one or more of these options:

• Make sure you have the latest graphics driver installed. Use DDU to do a completely clean install.
  
• Lower your graphics settings.
  
• Limit your framerate to 60fps or even lower.
  
• Downclock your GPU and/or VRAM by 100MHz.
  
• Disable XMP on your RAM.
  
• Return your CPU to stock settings and remove any overclock/undervolt.

Q: I have occasional stuttering

Auto-crafters and Drone logistics are known to cause stutter about ever 5-6 seconds. You have to remove some Auto-Crafters or decrease the number of built and loose items in your world.

Q: I have bad performance now

The game uses more VRAM since the Procedural Wrecks update. About 3GB. You'll have to upgrade your graphics card or lower the resolution/quality of the game.

Q: I have ample VRAM but still bad performance

Make sure you have the latest NVidia, AMD or Intel graphics drivers.

Unfortunately, some older cards no longer get new drivers. In that case, you'll have to upgrade your craphics card or lower the resolution/quality of the game.

Mine just stopped working too. Black screen on startup. If I restart my PC it will go to the main menu but then stop responding. I've tried re-installing the game, checked gpu drivers, starting as admin. Nothing works

The demo ran fine, but the full version has my mouse submarining to the bottom left corner when I am in inventory or main menus. It's almost unplayable. Any suggestions?

Just a heads up, your listing on GOG still mentions Windows 7 compatibility. I was looking for windows 7 fixes for about an hour because the first google hit (the GOG store page) said it was compatible lmao. I came here seeking help and saw the FAQ (womp womp).

When in multiplayer i cant craft in any of the crafting station but all the other people are completly fine, Instead of crafting it kicks me out of the crafting menu and gives me a pop up that says "Press the accessibility key (default: CTRL) to chain crafts"

Nvm fixed it by laucnhing the game

Not loading at all for me, I get the dreaded white screen and blue rotating circle :( , I'm on PC with keyboard and mouse (no mods), and have been playing since EA, as you can see I've logged over 600 hours :) , I updated my version of Windows 10 and I meet all the specs easily. Before the 1.0 it ran lovely (even managed to fill a new style locker with Birthday cake!! :D ) Any help would be appreciated as I absolutely LOVE this game!!
