Yes, we have no aluminium. PROBLEM SOLVED (SORT OF)
In my current game, I opted for randomized ores; and although the distribution seems odd to me, it's been okay, and I've liked not knowing in advance where everything is. However, I'm having a problem finding aluminium. Let me explain...

I found aluminium on the ground where one finds osmium in the vanilla game. There was zeolite where there is normally uranium, obsidian where one would normally find cobalt, and iridium is where one finds it in the vanilla game, which seems a bit odd for a randomized distribution, but I guess it is possible.

My problem, however, is when it comes time to use an extractor. When I put an extractor where one finds osmium in the vanilla game, I got osmium. But when I put an extractor where one normally finds aluminium, I get cobalt. In iridium caves, I get iridium - zeolite in zeolite areas, and uranium in uranium caves.

So...... where's the aluminium? I've never bothered with GPS rockets because I know where everything is in the vanilla game. Do the GPS rockets show where ore deposits are on the map, or I do I have to keep searching?

And before anyone asks, I know the difference between the extractor tiers.

Are you SURE that you're getting the extractor firmly in the aluminum area?

I started a new save with this major update, and I put a refiner down and I thought I was in the aluminum area, went back to it and found everything except aluminum and here, for some reason, I was juuuust outside the area. Look at the icon of the ore it's telling you that it's gonna get, and if I had done that I would have noticed the error.

I have looked at the icon. I am well into the aluminium area, and the icon shows cobalt.

Okay folks, I've solved my problem (kind of). I really needed the aluminium to make the super alloys I so desperately needed, but in placing extractors here, there, and everywhere, I found a spot where I can extract super alloys.

I still haven't found where I can extract aluminium, but maybe in time I will. If not, I can disassemble the super alloys and get some that way.

I have made 16 games of random ore and no place I see just by running at start using a pod to refresh o2 can I find aluminium. Always Obsidian on ground in starter area, which is fine but it appears the aluminium is behind ice walls so far.

That's where I finally found it, behind an ice wall (after it melted of course).

I tried the Randomised Ores , it was awful , could not find 1 of the basic ores at all it seemed .

I'm having great difficulty finding a place where I can extract sulfur. The sulfur I find on the ground is finite, and I'm very close to running out.

can't you put a gps rocket up and use the map? It's been a while since I started a new game, but the map screen definitely show where the ores are. can't recall how far along with unlocks you need to be to have the map show you this, but it does work.

I've never used the GPS rockets because in the vanilla game I know where everything is anyways, so I didn't know they showed the location of the ores. In my current (random ore distribution) game I've only gotten to T2 GPS rockets so far.

I wonder if GPS rockets show ore distribution in a random distribution game.

They do

Unfortunately, that information isn't available until moderately late game. It doesn't help the person starting out in a random-ore game. :-(
