Feel free to borrow. I love Eldenheim and New Haven. Sounds very LOTR ish. :)
I got the tourist idea when the clear domes came available. I wanted a place to put my teleporters around the planet anyway, so I started setting up "apartments" in a clear dome to put them in. I didn't want to have to make entire bases everywhere, it seemed redundant.
Once I'd built, furnished, and decorated a dome, it occurred to me that this would make a cool place for tourists to stay while visiting the planet. And an industry was born. Lol. My whole planet is now set up for tourism. It was a fun idea to play with and kept the game interesting.

LOTR (the books) were right up there on the list of my first loves; read them to my younger brother before bed beginning in the fall of 1964, took us right through the rest of the school year and summer vac too, to get through all three volumes, but once we started, neither one of us would even dream of stopping, lol! We had no TVs or electricity, but those books were better than any movies for us - and there very well could be subconscious echoes of them in my namings. :-)
My world is littered with single-pod cabins, I tend to do my exploring fairly early on, even though I don't open all the chests - just some - but I always carry 3 iron, 2 titanium, and a silicon along with a couple each food & water, and one air- if I need more air I build a quick pod, then leave it in place, collect another pod's worth, and carry on snooping about. Even 20 or so games later (I've lost count) I'm still finding things I hadn't found before - those devs are sneaky good at hiding things! :-)
Nothing about those little pods are anything like as fancy as your tourist cabins, but I do love the idea - and yes, our planet would make an awesome tourist stop, the nights in particular are spectacular, what with all the glowing foliage and colourful moons and such (particularly the eastern one).
It's so wonderful to come over another hill and see yet more butterflies and frogs flitting or sitting about - I am very much looking forward to the mammals stage, hopefully they will be just as much fun and equally satisfying! :-)
