Please add an automatic recycling machine
I feel like it should be something pretty simple to create, given that we already have a normal recycling machine and an auto-crafter, combining their two scripts should do it. Just give it reasonably large storage (at least equivalent of T2 storage) so it can fit all the materials from at least two of even the most complex items. It would simplify automation so much - currently I have my mining stations in range of auto-crafters producing rods out of their respective ores (uranium/iridium/osmium/super alloy), and drones bringing rods instead of individual ores, because it means only 1 drone trip instead of 9, freeing up a lot of drones to do other tasks. However, I have to deconstruct/recycle all those rods myself at the base before their ores can be fed into my trade auto-crafting pipeline. An automatic recycling machine would be an amazing tool to simplify this task.

Thank you for all the effort you're putting in to improve the game, really hoping to see this eventually!

I suppose you mean an auto-recycler...?

Thanks - corrected the title and post.

This, please. This would be such a great addition for us folks with "OCD" who don't want to just destroy stuff in the end game. I've recycled everything I could until now but it becomes unmanageable in the end game, with dozens of explosive powders for example. Thank you!

I understand why you want it, but if they add any more automation to the game you're just going to be standing around while the game plays itself. There has to be a little bit of management somewhere.

You can also just simply make more drones, you can completely automate drone production. I had tons of T2 drones in my last playthrough, so much in fact that half of them sat idle not doing anything most of the time.

You can DEMAND items to be transported to your recycling machine u do realist that yes ? Supply items from Deconstruction to Recycler .. Drones will collect an deposit items for u .

Can they press the button for you then?

What people want is something like the Ore Crusher. A box to put stuff to be recycled into, and it recycles it and puts it in another box.

Which should be a pretty easy T2 Recycler upgrade to create now they've done it once.

Yes, this is the heart of the request - to place the resulting items into a storage that is available to logistics.

We really want more than that though - we want a machine that will recycle things automatically - like the ore rushers in Humble. We don't want to have to press a button.

gotcha that makes sense , sorry i didnt get it at first. i will say i doubt it will be a thing or at least atm given what theyve mentioned in discord . should post this there for wanting it in the ideas /suggestions tab worth a shot. but atm i think there working on the bugs and next content releases most . i do think itd be cool your idea however given with ore curshers and meteors and all even though materials dont respawn they are easily re obtainable plus with ship wreckages in the portals we get so many materials back they may feel that just destructing /destroying the materials extra is more simple. no idea .

That is pretty much a given with an "automatic recycling machine"... I was speaking to the handling of the results also being a requirement for "automatic".

At this time you can make an automatic recycling setup on Humble. Just set up the ore crusher 3, put the stuff you want to recycle in the input and supply all on the output for the drones to pick up the output and put it away. Limited to 5 items on what can be recycled if you want the items from the output.

Just watched a video from serious lee, bio plastic returned all 4 items, fertilizer 2 returned 5 items, and an osmium rod returned 5 items.

Wow, confirmed. Explosive broke down to 14 components, after recursion of powders, circuit, and nugget.

We have tons of other things to do other than just "stand around" - wrecks to explore, bases to build, animals to sequence. And in the early/mid game where you've just set up your supply chains and can't afford 100+ drones yet, this would make a massive difference.

(Also, why are people suddenly paying attention to this post? It's been like 8 months haha)
i had the same issue as you, so i dug a bit and found a mod that does just that.

Recyclers Deposit Into Containers:
https://www.nexusmods.com/planetcrafter/mods/63

it basically allows you to automate the recicler machine. just add a container with the name *Recycled and it will automatically recicle anything for you (button pressed too) after 5 seconds (configurable) and put it in said storage.

you can have several storages with the same name but keep in mind that if the storages get full the items get dropped in the world anyway so i have the *Recycled storage set on "supply" specifically the ores, the recycle machine is on demand (priority 0) of the rods. and there's a crusher with a priority -1 that auto-voids when full. alternatively you can have multiple recyclers (all storing in the same single storage) and each recycler is set to one specific rod so it it's a bit faster.

keep in mind that later on the rods have a sell price, so it's better not to void them all tho.

the priorities are set like that because i like to have the regular storage room with priority 1 (i like to have a lot of rods just for crafting purposes)

that's basically 100% what you're asking for, i believe it should be on vanilla by default too but.. meh, mods will help with that :P

sorry but i have a mod to deal with that and i still zoom around doing things. which is a shame because I LOVE automating everything until the point that i don't even need to play anymore. that's my personal automation goal is for all games and i enjoy deeply doing that. doesn't mean you need to do it nor enjoy it, but for me is basically where the fun lies "end-game"
