Animal Feeders not working
Nothing happens when I click to deposit any kind of food into the feeder, it just removes it from my inventory and nothing gets added to the feeders inventory. I thought the animals might be eating that fast, but they're all starving. I even tried dumping an entire inventory worth of food into one (as well as some tier 1 & 2 Animal Food), and it just disappeared while nothing got deposited...

Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong, or if anyone else is having this issue?

They are eating it quickly BECAUSE they are starving.

I haven't had a chance to play since yesterday's 1.1 update but I saw in the releases notes that they added some new recipes for animal food. Give em a read, maybe the answer is there.

I emptied an entire inventory (like 60) of the primo meals into the feeder, and all 6 of the animals hunger level didn't change.

I made 15 of the tier 2 animal food and put them all into the feeder, all of them disappeared like I described before and the hunger level of all 6 animals didn't change.

I didn't see a bug thread in the steam discussion, anyone know if the devs respond to anything here?

Thnx.

I automated the animal feeding with an autocrafer. Actually, i use T1 food.

I just moved to the T2 food and it is crazy hard to get the ingredients. I am playing at a harder difficulty than default (1.0 vs. 1.2) so good luck.
I have three of those new Ecosystems built with a T2 optimizer and three production fuses, so time is down to 60sec for each of the three but it is still very slow at producing the rare larva, as there are 8 types of larva.

My entire feeding process is automated and backed up by feeding them the Honey Baked Beans. Which get eaten quickly. That is automated also.

Also have this problem - food just disappears from inventory no matter what it is - T1, T2 food, veggies... nothing is going into the feeder just vanishes and animal hunger not changing

Especially if you use T1 and T2 animal food they will keep you doing nothing but chasing ingredients. There have been rejoinders that you can feed them anything people eat - but what's the point of having animal feed?

T2 animal food provides 500% animal multiplier

I feed mine T2 and honey. They seem to prefer the honey. Its all automated so I just visit to pet them. I have too many traits as it is so I'm just keeping the rare ones now. Just got the new species. Time to go back and hunt some more.
Feed them anything a farm will grow.
Beans are best. Cookies. Get the drone started on collecting what you need and set up autocrafters for EVERYTHING. The drones are the key to the feeding issues. Get Several farms going and plant beans. That will solve the feeding issue for starving critters.
As for food disappearing immediately, that is suspicious.

Is it possible you have drones that are snatching the food item away and taking it someplace it is being demanded? Or do you have an auto crafter nearby that uses that the food item you are putting in the feeders? I ask because I've gone crazy trying to keep a stash of certain ingredients when they are "in demand" by an auto crafter or drones are set to take them somewhere else.

Why, yes, that was a rhetorical question, of course the work to collect rare larva is only done because of the food multiplier effect which doesn't change the work demands to provide it, especially as there are so many other uses for rare larva. It's does bring up a game balance issue as mammals show up late in the game when there are demands on your time to complete prep to get off the planet while trying to feed 30 chow hounds (in my case mostly big Species 3's) grrrrrr.

Check the production rate at the animal pen. If they're starving the rate will be severely reduced, if they're full the rate will be insanely high. Default genes have a bit of food and work at 1000%, oh and they remember hunger levels if you pull the genes out.

Perhaps it's being eaten automatically just so fast you can't see it? Maybe there could be a delay on consumption of a second so you deposit it, see it in the feeders inventory and then it disappears? Perhaps there could be a visual indicator it was eaten, not removed by a drone? Such as the drone is about to move this object icon, only a ravenous animal icon shows up telling you it's about to be eaten?
