Does this game have an official ending?

I'm thinking of buying this game, but i don't like survival games that just go on forever. Is this the case for this game, or is there actually an official ending that you work up to, similar to Subnautica?

It has 3 to be exact.

Similar to subnautica in that you have an ending (actually three endings) but you still can play afterwards if you want to.

Yes, it has 3 possible endings. You get to choose which one to do, or you can do all 3 if you wish. Be warned, however, that the endings aren't particularly satisfying or pleasant. Nor are they well defined.

Seems like a number of us in the community have decided not to even pursue an ending, being happier with simply having reached "Complete terraformation" (which is kind of an ending in itself) and remaining on our planets.

That being said, it's still a game well worth playing.

This week I finished the game with all 3 endings, but the nihilistic tone of them made me sad. I sent feedback to devs via F8 in game with request for happy ending. They keep adding new things in the game, so maybe they add happy ending(s) as well.

Me too. But the devs changed the texts already for the developers version and probably will update those too for the next update. They wrote "Small changes to ending texts to make it more cheerfull".
