Thank you. Guess there's no way to play a version before that? @Dev is there a beta code for that?
So it has been 8 years since Microsoft let Windows 7 be pre-installed on machines. And 4 years since security patches (aka extended support) were released for it. The longer you go without upgrading, the more vulnerable you personally are. It really isn't on devs to make their games and software backwards compatible for a very small minority of users.
I get it though, I liked 7 more than 10, but I've been using 10 for 4+ years and its fine. Not looking forward to upgrading to 11.
Yes, they dropped support as of January 2024
BTW i tell everyone to upgrade too, even gifted ppl Win 10s, but this here: "It really isn't on devs to make their games and software backwards compatible for a very small minority of users." BACKwards? It released with Win 7 Support! That's why i bought it.
Back when Win7 was still supported by Steam it was released into EA with a big warning that things will change. You had to have some idea that this was going to happen to you at some point with some game when you decided to stick with such an old OS. Less than half a percentage point of people on Steam use Win7. Time to move forward and evolve.
Guess i didn't see the warning? Thanks. I really hate always on, ALL my old boxed games work decades later on the OS they released on. Guess i'm a dying breed to expect that. Does GoG have a version or only the newest like steam?
both the steam and gog versions are windows 10 or higher.
Those are completed games that aren't being supported (updated) anymore. I'm guessing that EA isn't really your thing if you're expecting the same before full 1.0 release.
I know what you mean, but i am not talking about content. I even had games that where it ran fine but then dev changed engine and minimum reqs. Should at least offer an old build.
check eBay! for an older good asus mainoard for win7 and 10 (cost 50-100 bucks)
One website was specifically made for people who refused to stop using Internet Explorer 6 that came with WIndows XP, and another website for THE REST OF THE WORLD.
That was a real pain, because IE6 wasn't compliant with Web Standards at all, so when you made a Website, it was guaranteed not to work with IE6, forcing the Web Dev to make two versions, for the people who refused to upgrade.
It was a crappy time for Website Devs, thanks to people who never upgrade.
