Can living compartments be made airtight? Placing one down into a lake doesn't seem like they are airtight. Which means i have to move my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ base...AGAIN! I absolutely hate that and this is a game breaker for me.

I can deal with the god awful inventory management to some extend but moving the entire base and the storage is just too much.

EDIT: Should have made some screenshots of the "problem":
The "Lake", that i started in.

That's with over ~50% progress towards lakes.
And this is the main problem of moving the base:

I know this is probably a complete overkill, since i don't really need a locker full of Ice for example, but damn it's rough.

UPDATE:
I started a new game and this time i was more conservative of what i stored. I cut my Storage lockers down to 4 from 12 (maybe even 14?) which made moving the base in the new game much easier. I also already caught up with my old save files Progression and even surpassed it in way less time.

It happens to most of use the first time playing. You do get a message that says to build your base on higher ground.

I've never tried it, but i've wanted to. if it is possible, i'm guessing doors have to be above water level. lemme know if that works.

The game does make it pretty clear to build on higher ground. There's some pretty obvious locations that will flood. Its not hard to choose a decent location that won't flood, and use the foundation grids to lift cubes off the ground, keep things level.

I get that Y levels close to 0-50 are easily flooded. But the only other sign i can guess are the puddles that manifest in these stone wells. And i really don't like using the foundations since they don't make the cubes snap to them, which makes aligning them a pain the butt, but that's just a me problem, i can work on that.

Yeah, I'm gonna restart in a new world.
And yes i did get that message, but way later since i refused to waste nearly an entire T2 solar panel to receive lore messages, or so i though, but it turns out that's how you get tips and tricks. You can't really blame me for thinking that this was useless.
I eventually built it when i had a few nuclear reactors built, but it was obviously way too late.

Well, time to rush through the early stages again. Thanks all <3

Oh nearly forgot, i don't really think that works, since you can't build Ladders downwards. So i had to start down and build up, but even deleting the door on the first floor doesn't drain the lower room(s) of water. That was really a missed opportunity IMO but i'm just me.

Learning by making mistake. Next time, you go to a better pace. But why is it a game breaker for you? You will play a survival game. That's normal to fail and learn for next trying.

I built mine on stilts between the aluminum/iridium cave near the start location. Lake didnt grow to flood out that area but i was ready for it :p

I advise that you start a Creative game with the same landing point, go to wherever you built your base, and then see how many pods stacked on top of each other you would need to have your base "sitting" on top of the full lake. For the "Standard" spot, that's typically around 5 pods. This makes it easy to plan your build in a real game, so that when the flooding is over, you not only have a creative "floating" base, but it helps you avoid the problem of having to plan around tiny little hills that unexpectedly turn out taller than you thought, messing up your ideas. You also don't have trees suddenly growing through your foundations in unexpected places or cutting off access to your staircases. Lakes don't have to be a pain in your butt! They can be your friend!

you get a message from Riley telling you to build at a higher altitude well before you reach the rain stage.

I built mine now near the wreckage on top of the hill, should hold out for a longish time. And even if i have to move again, it'll not be as painful as the last game since i don't store as much anymore.

I know built it as soon as i had unlocked it in my new game and the message about the altitude get's to you before you're even in the blue sky stage (at least with my performance). So yeah, you get it way earlier. My Bad.

I don't get it. I'm on my third playthrough and every time I built dozens of bases, none of them were big if they were in the lake and all are easily moved. It's a bit of back and forth walking that's all and you need to make bases every so often until you have more oxygen supply.

Yes. you get a message but your base is already quit big when you finally do. Still think it should be giving from the start. Suggestion: have us build the message center very early on as part of the tutorial instead of a message that come way to late. like first thing after getting suit upgrades. Before base building. it is quite frustrating for a new player. now 270 hours in, I remember how this sucked, having to move everything when I just wanted to play the game. it is an easy fix DEVS. I love this game, and want others to as well. BUT it is very frustrating for a new player.

Unless its your very first time playing this game, you'll likely never need to move a base. Even now, if I choose to start in the default, I only drop a couple wind turbines and drills near the drop pod to get things moving while I construct the hab units on the plateau. I don't even waste time building a base where I know will be a lake bottom.
