Living Compartments Don't Snap Correctly
Each living compartment you build offsets slightly to the left. Not a big deal at first, but this happens every single time and objects placed inside become more and more misaligned as the compartments gradually work themselves farther and farther away from the grid.

Uh... Do you build some where close to a possible collision zone?
Because I will deconstruct and construct until everything is perfectly aligned and so far I've always managed to do so...

I hear what hes saying. When I try to stack 2x2 compartments on top of each other they just will not snap directly on top of each other no matter how many times I delete and try again.

Never have I seen this. They all snap perfectly in place. No matter how far you go they stay aligned. Using any mods?

This is a well known issue and this is why you use a 1x1 compartment stuck to the side to line things up. It works with 3x3s too.

The problem is every compartment when snapped is offset very slightly to the left. Every single one. This is not a theory. You can look at the seams from the inside and clearly see this is always happening. Try making hallway of compartments with chests in the exact same place in each one. You'll find that it's impossible.

Nope, they are not offset at all. I have a "hallway" about 15 rooms long and they are perfectly lined up the whole way. Chests lined up perfectly

Now we need someone to do the same, except not under a bias lens. We are here to improve the experience. Not deny anything is wrong with it.

We aren't here to make up false stories about something that doesn't happen...

So, even if this does only effects certain people (which I highly doubt) you don't care, right?
margalus Feb 28, 2024 @ 3:34pm
I didn't say I didn't care if people had a strange bug. But you just called me a liar for saying it doesn't happen for me. So my reply was in kind.

Every single discussion ends this way on Steam. If you tell people there is a bug, and exactly how to reproduce it, what could very well be a bot always comes along to gaslight you about how wrong you are, and how everything you have done to isolate the problem, never happened.

They end this way because of people making claims like "I tell exactly how to reproduce it" when they actually don't tell you that. How do you reproduce this so-called bug?

I can verify that they don't snap correctly when building up with anything but 1x1s.
I have a 3x3 I built out of said 1x1s (a + of squares, and rounded edges at the corners) in my main base, before I realized the 3x3 existed in the trade rocket.
I then attempted to build up from there by placing, in turn, the 3x3 rounded compartment from the rocket, and the biodome living compartment (also a 3x3), on top of my hacked together 3x3.
Neither would line up properly. Regardless of angle of placement that I could access, regardless of where I aimed it. Even when I tried to place one of the premade 3x3s on top of each other, they would not line up properly, always off by an in game half foot or so.
This thread, or one like it, actually solved it for me, by suggesting the method of building up with 1s first on the edge, and then forcing the 3x3s to connect to that 1x1 tower.

No mods, ever in my history of playing this game. Modded other things, but not this one.

Additionally, this problem extends to other buildings, such as the launch platform for regular rockets. I accidentally decon'd my platform and wanted to replace it, next to some frames I had set in that session. It refused to place where it had before, until I forced it to with yet more frames, and making it connect to them.
The placement thing is just kinda jank.

This isn't about stacking. The op is saying they don't line up putting them in a straight line.
