Will co-op be host-based or will there be a dedicated server?
Hoping for the possibility of a dedicated server :8bitheart:

Good luck with that. It's why my entire clan stopped playing COD

Thanks, a little sad about that, but that's just par for the course these days.

What if you don't have/want other players to invite?
What about AI companions?
I'm a very solo gamer...don't really play games that require me to interact with other hoo-mans.
I don't particularly like other hoo-mans.
I'd rather have a few slaves that I can send out to do the grunt work.

or this is more about inviting your buddy into your game to show them what kind of mess you have made on this planetoid?

Multiplayer is completely optional. You can keep playing by yourself.

For my internet situation, dedicated servers always lag to the point of unplayable.
Host lets me actually play with nearby friends.
Dedicated also sucks up dev resources that could go toward further development.

Functionality for running the game dedicated / headless is already finished, its the same as when hosting it yourself just without all the graphics and a player. (I know its not exactly that simple, but it could have been if it had been decided from the start)

Your other points just doesn't make sense.

This game is far too simple and short for a dedicated server.

Just setup a virtual machine from your home and have a host running on that???

No need to pay for a server,,,

You may be able to rent a server to run it , hopefully with something like Procon to have Admins and rules ...etc . The part I'm really wondering about is if your base is protected by some kind of boundary where only the owner can make changes .

That's a shame, I guess this makes the purchase of the game an easy no tbh. Thanks for the honesty!

I want to come here and say that the additional planet is nice. I do enjoy this game a ton. However, at my age... the friends i have rarely have free time that aligns with my own.

I think failing to include an option for dedicated server with an option to pause Index growth when player count is less than 1 would have been something tossed around during early development.

Ive already spent the money so i guess the times to rant about it would have been long ago ... does anyone know if someone has come up with an unoffical patch or mod loaded version of a dedicated server?

this is an extremely indie game that got more success than expected. co-op wasn't even on the radar initially, and is still a recent feature. so "would have been something tossed around during early development" is a stretch
