Loot in portal wrecks worth the trip?
Was wondering how valuable players are finding the loot drops in the new wrecks? In other words, the dev descriptions say new items and high tier loot. When you get to a certain point in the game, high tier loot isn't as meaningful. I have tons of seeds, minerals and pulsar aren't a problem, most of the kind of loot I find elsewhere in the game is ok but hardly necessary anymore. It's been nice not ever having to craft rocket engines thanks to blue crates from the sky. ;) And I can buy whatever I need from the rockets.

The new quartz required to access higher level wrecks sounds interesting, but is what you find there worth going for? It would totally be worth it for new flower seeds, new tree seeds, new foods, or things of that nature. I will probably try it out for the fun and challenge factor, but I'm wondering if searching for loot is worthwhile. Opinions?

You didn't mention trading currency. But some people set up factories to give them plenty of that.

Picking up TT would be fine but not as motivating as actual new items. I imagine there will eventually be more things to spend them on. I hardly have a factory with only two trade rockets. But they're automated and pulsar is steady so aside from buying all the stuff I currently want, I'm sitting on about 460,000. Certainly not as rich as some, but that's not really my goal in the game.

I've been clamoring for more flowers, so finding new flower seeds would be well worth a trip. New food seeds would be cool too. A new blueprint we've never seen before. Those are the things I'd find worthwhile, and would be cool surprises for us to discover. So, I'm hoping...

I've fired up my endgame and explored a few wrecks, and yeah, there's nothing worth the time. There IS good loot in them, but it's on par with what you'd expect to find for leaving blue crates until the end game to open them - mutagen, biolab stuff, the occasional fuse, rods, rocket engines, etc. But no sign of new items beyond the three types of crystals and flares. I just finished my first Rarity 5 wreck, which had two wrecks in it and both of their vaults had three safes in them, but the valuables amounted to tens of thousands of TT and a half-dozen or so fuses.

tl;dr for an endgame player there's nothing of interest in them and nothing new except for the new crystals, which have no purpose but opening portals.

Yeah, just explored a few wrecks... I agree 100% with DrakeyC just said... It gives the game space to grow, which is good, but from where we are sitting at the moment, it's not worth the time.

Well now that's disappointing. :steamsad:

Cause honestly the portals themselves are cool, and scanning for new biomes to explore and trying to get the quartz for the rare areas is a good concept. I'm not sure where you have to be in game progress to access these as I'm far enough in game that pretty much anything that comes available, I'll get. So it could be really useful for earlier game players.

But why not throw in something for us late gamers who have been around 500 plus hours? It was cool just to see those fish swimming free in the water together. A bit too many maybe, cause the frame rate just dived. But delightful nonetheless. I kept hoping to find some rare fish eggs or butterfly larvae given all the fauna at my first wreck.

Why not something NEW? The multi colored flowers all over the ground in the first biome would be an awesome addition. A new tree. New food seeds. A new chip for our multi tools that allows meteor fragment deconstruction, maybe requiring one of the new quartz types to make? These are far more motivating things for late game players to spend time running a maze of a ship to find. At least in my opinion. I hope the devs consider it.
