super alloy from meteorites disappears
Does anyone else notice that when there is a super alloy meteor shower, you don't end up finding any on the floor anywhere? If i chase down the meteorites where they fall immediately, I get the alloys. But if I ignore the entire event and go out after it's over, I find none generally. Maybe it's just me - but I've had several events occur around my main base and have yet to find a single super alloy anywhere on the floor =)

That's because Super Alloy from these events despawns very, very quickly. Contrary to other meteor events, with this one you can't wait till the rocks disappear. I had SA disappear right in front of me when I wanted to grab it.
But you also have the chance to get a lot of these little buggers if you are fast enough.

It is why folks get killed by Alloy meteors - you have to get after them while the meteor storm is still on if you need Alloy. Once you no longer need Alloy (because you are mining it) folks sometimes just ignore the Alloy storms - more bother than they are worth.

The higher meteor drops (super allow, osmium, pulsar) all despawn rather quickly. You can risk going out in the falling meteors or run back and forth to decaying rocks (in the latter two cases).

Since super alloy usually is able to be mined before the meteors begin falling (and certainly manufactured once you have ample aluminum), the risk of getting bopped on the head seems to outweigh the benefit.

Osmium and pulsar quartz do not despawn quickly. I always wait for the rocks to disappear when the pulsteroid strikes. I don't need the osmium. At the point I'm at the alloy storms are just a nuisance.

Well, sure, not as fast as super alloy, but they do despawn. I throw everything that despawns into a broad "quickly" basket. It's just that, since the alloy is super, it despawns super quickly.

(The above is an argument a person who is not willing to admit they used the wrong wording would post. Not that the person has any resemblance to me. No, not at all.)

I've had a few loot crate meteo's [yes, I know that's the incorrect spelling, but having found a in game msg with the same spelling] already.
Issue is, 2 of them exploded before hitting the ground thus despawning the loot crates

They do evaporate quickly. That shower drops around 75 meteors. I've made game of running out toward the end of the storm, seeing how many I can snag while not getting clobbered. Personal best: 21. Times clobbered: At least half a dozen.

I've never seen them explode before they hit the ground, but there is a known bug where they can sometimes glitch into the ground (the same goes for the pulsar meteors).

why waiting super alloy in meteorit when you can extract them ????

The quick despawning of super alloy is a "feature" of super alloy meteor storms. In early game it is very useful to be able to gather as many pieces of super alloy as possible. I used to try to collect them while the meteor shower was still ongoing to maximize the yield. But with screen shake intensity at the default value, it was really hard to collect any at all. Now I have screen shake really low and only have a problem if an alloy rolls away. Of course, now that I have progressed I don't even bother because I can mine it.

There is an option (slider) in the game settings that allows you to change the intensity of screen vibrations to zero. Check the settings.

My screen shake setting has been at 4% for a long time now. :-)
