What is the goal of this game?
What is the goal of this game, there is no real danger, no quests, just build a habitat, that's all?

To terraform the planet you're on. It starts off a rocky desert. You want to end up with plants and animals.

It's supposed to be a relatively chill game, unless you opt to play on high difficulty. There are some things to discover, including backstory of the world you're dumped on, but you can do it largely at your own pace. We don't know the ending yet, but it's presumed that something will happen when you've got the planet sufficiently terraformed.

Yep - nobody jumping out of the bushes every few minutes. No ravening mobs of bloodthirsty zombies chasing you down. No enemies lurking around every corner. Like it like that. Adrenaline fix elsewhere.

I played for about thirty hours, but after that it got boring. As I say, there are no dangers, no quests, no history. nothing new or surprising happens.
Subnautica was a gem with an incredible atmosphere. I don't feel anything special about this game. Sorry if there's no risk, there's no fun.

There are lots of us who love the game as it is. There is history, The Wardens, but as you say no danger apart from dying. I have played Subnautica which is a great game but the two games are very dissimilar in aims. As an oldie with slow reactions I could only advance with an invisibility cheat in Subnautica. It still became hard work. Not what I was looking for. Planet Crafter is mostly a chill game and I hope it stays that way. Hope you find a new game that ticks all the boxes for you soon.

Thanks - that's what I meant to say. I have gotten edgy about folks militating for more drama and when I leave the real 9 to 5 world, a quiet safe place is welcome.
Survival.

I consider the game to be a building game, where the building has a purpose, with a dash of text-based RPG story, given as e-mails you read, which a lot of people don't bother, either because they don't like to read or because they're slowly dying while they read - that last part should be changed by the devs. They can't fix the issue of people not bothering to read. Either way, the players miss important clues, like coordinates they should check out.

It's still in early access so it's anyone's guess at this point.

Edited Note: You can eventually read all the e-mails at your base, once you've acquired the ability to make the Screen-Transmissions, I think.

For new players playing on hardcore difficulty without any map knowledge, it is definitely a challenge and dangerous. That's why my #1 tip to people coming to this game from survival games is to play on hardcore because if you learn the map in the easier game modes, you have ruined any chance of a challenging game.

I would go even one better and start a custom game and max out the vitals depletion rate.

Once you learn the map and / or unlocked food, it's largely a sandbox. Follow the tech unlock path, explore the map, whatever you want to do, there is no rush and it doesn't matter, the only danger is yourself, forgetting to maintain your vitals.

The main goal is to terraform the planet, and by doing so unlock new and better stuff. There is a small quest line dealing with the Wardens, but the devs have always said there will be no fighting, no attacks, they wanted it to be a more relaxed survival game. Eventually we assume we will be getting off the planet or in some other way earning our freedom, but time will tell there.

They sold the game as the next Subnautica, we are very far from it, except in terms of graphics. So much the better if you like it, for my part, this game quickly becomes boring, with no clear goal.

Who sold the game as the next Subnautica and where ? Do you have a link ?

You just have to watch the promotional video, it looks like Subnautica, but it's very far from it. Anyway, I'm going back to playing Subnautica and Valheim, real survival games.

The road map published 2021 states there will be no violence, no fighting, no aliens, no monsters and this road map has not changed. So it was never meant to be a Subnautica clone. Just because it has a similar look, in some peoples opinion, it does not make it a clone. Perhaps people should view YouTube videos of new games to see if it is going to appeal to them before parting with their hard earned cash. I know I always do for computer games and board games too. Saves a lot of disappointment down the line.

"Nobody said a thing, but I think it looks like a thing, so obviously they're explicitly selling it as that thing."

That about sum it up?
