I cannot even play the game anymore

Update: The issue seems to be fixed (so far). I don't know what caused it in the end or how it got fixed (because i didn't do anything), but I can now play the game. Sucks I have to start from the beginning, but a least the game is fun where I don't care. Thank you to all who tried to help.



I don't know why, but the game crashes so bad that it won't even start up anymore. I have unistalled and reinstalled it, I erased my old file... nothing seems to work anymore. It was crashing every few seconds on my old file out of nowhere, so I did the unistall/reinstall and got in long enough to erase my old file, and I haven't even started a new game yet. I decided to start again today and now I cannot even get the game to start. I put 88 hours into this game and only recently have I had this issue, and it's only THIS game. All my other games work fine.

I assume you tried rebooting your computer at some point.

Use Window's functions to make sure your drivers are up-to-date. This includes 'optional updates'.

I'm suspecting graphics drivers, but only a bit. It's the only think I can think of.

How is it crashing? Do you get a Windows "Game stopped working" or an Unity error dialog?
Do you have the game installed on an external drive or internal drive?

Verify integrity of game files. You can read about that here.

If that doesn't work, try clearing the Steam download cache. You can read about that here.

If it still doesn't work, at the top left of Steam click Help, then click System Information, and then copy everything from the pop-up and paste it to the discussion. I probably can't be of more help, but if you do the above stuff then maybe someone else can.

I have rebooted it and everything too. When it crashes, I get the icon for Planet Crafter itself with a red "!" and some sort of,what I'm assuming, error code.

Have you downloaded any mods? Could be they are out of date.

The red ! is an Unity crash, so there could be useful information in the log. Please come to the official discord (https://discord.gg/9YPjJ3C) and post the Player.log from %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter on the #help channel.

I have not changed, modded, or played with the file/game in any way. Someone mentioned it was a Unity crash, but I have other games that use unity and are fine. They also said go to discord and provided a link, not going to click on it. I rather reach out to the company specifically through email than trust a link in the comment section.

I have other games that use Unity and they don't give me issues, so I don't know if that means anything. And I'm sorry, but I will not click on your link because I do not trust links from comments of people I don't know. If you were trying to help, thanks, but with all the hackers out there, I don't trust links.

That link is good, it IS the discord server for The Planet Crafter, but I do understand what you are saying about hackers.

"akarnokd" is 1 of the channel moderators of the channel on the server, he has helped a lot of people there.

And yes I will understand if you do not trust or believe me either.

akarnokd is one of the moderators for this forum, if he posts a link you can trust it, I have never had one he has posted not be a real link. If you still dont trust it, you can google the developer and get the discord link from their page, I dont know if they show an email they can be contacted at off hand.
