Feedback: Algae and Plants should NOT be Drone-harvesteable
By this stage of the game almost everything is basically for free once set up, and having to design my autocrafter-bases around lakes and integrate them with plant setups (especially the outdoor fields) was the last bit of challenge / complexity in building a base.

You dont have to use the drones to harvest them. You can always choose to do it the way you did before.

No thank you.
Having to manual harvest algae was ridiculous. You spent half your game time focussed on it at end game.

Let’s not regress

the second best thing in the update drones harvesting the food and algae is a very good and it's very helpful thing they add in update and how would you sell your high-quality food that system drones make it work I have 3 autocrafters make high-quality continuously

Ehh that change wasn't needed or unwelcome. It was just whatever. Could avoid manually picking things with the autocrafter. Wasn't like we needed drones shuttling around algae and veggies. Only weirdos wanting lockers full of algae rejoiced.

you are very wrong it's very needed it's needed so many reasons that I can't say them all

Nope. Autocrafter worked fine. Only the weirdos wanting lockers full of stuff they don't even need tossed a hissy to get this change implemented rather than embracing the automation how it was intended.

As I said, it wasn't an unwelcome change. I can see "some" merit behind it, but only in the sense of saving frames by building junk strategically around the map. But truthfully, I feel indifferent to the change. I didn't want or need algae and veggies in bins. I was perfectly capable of just building automation stations for crafting the actually useful things then shipping those off to storage instead.

The people making the game made the changes, and because they wanted to. Declaring that to be wrong is bizarrely egotistical.

Only because of the constant feedback saying to change it. When the drones were added, they had their community manager telling us it was intended to be done with autocrafters, not drones. They changed their mind because of constant feedback saying to change it. Once again, I feel indifferent to the change. It's not some end all, be all, game changing feature for me. It's just a thing that exists now.

I also never said it was "wrong". I just said it wasn't necessary. You could automate algae and crops without drones shipping them around.

But expecting autocrafters to harvest the algae is a bad idea. They have such limited range you would need half a dozen small ‘bases’ over any given lake to make it viable.
That’s messy, ugly, leads to segregated automatic systems and would have just been plain boring.
Those who think it should be done with crafters still can. Just don’t set any contained to demand algae

Segregated? Not exactly. You can very easily build every bit of autocrafting all in one spot if you so choose even before drones could ship them around. And if you mean having a ton of random build cubes for things around the plateau lake, that is also wrong. The only thing that needs to be indoors last I checked was silk production. Can build autocrafters, gas extractors, farms, algae growers, storage, etc all outside to your hearts content.

I have a tendency to start new saves every major update to experience the changes in progression rather than just seeing the new things. My fish update save did exactly that. Built a rather small facility in the center of the lake that did every bit of autocrafting and only needed one build cube for the silk. It was all compact and centralized and functioned beautifully. And as far as aesthetics go, I did make it look pleasing rather than just slapping a ton of foundations all over the place and calling it good.

Also if the "outdoor only" thing drives you bonkers, you can work around that too by creative usage of the building blocks. My current save has all the outdoor stuff hidden inside a building by creating 'pseudo-outdoor' pockets in the center. It is indeed using drones to ship algae but I very easily could've built it over water as well. Especially since it's located next to the lake anyhow because I wanted to use that flat-ish space next to the lake for a bajillion trade platforms. So opted to build the autocrafting stuff next to the trade platforms for obvious reasons.

Ok, and I was thinking maybe they add a submarine drone at some point to harvest them because there was nothing to select at the algae generator... Thanks for the reply
