Maximum Drones

I noticed that you can use the autocrafter to create drones. Can a drone station command more drones than the 25 that it holds in storage? If I use drones to automate the crafting of drones, is there a limit to how many drones can be in operation?

My guess is no. Someone else posted about their frustration over having 21 drones that just sit idle since they can't build a station yet.

And I think I have too many with the 7 I've built, no idea what I would do with more of them.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they can. I mistakenly thought a drone station held 30 drones instead of 25 so I had 5 extras. While moving goods they were all absent from the station but when they caught up and were idle there were 5 "ghost drones" lined up vertically above the station.

No reason you can't have more drone stations.

So it *might* be because I'm using an inventory stacking mod but I have 71 drones currently and would NOT recommend it. The game stutters like the framerate is from a manual crank to the point of being unplayable.

Could be a mod or hardware.
I'm playing on hispec with no mods.
I have hundreds of drones with no graphics problem.

I also have hundreds of drones with no issues (auto drone building was my first priority). HOWEVER... when they were stacking up over the drone stations I thought to scrap a bunch of drones (down to 200ish) and just have 8 stations controlling them scattered over the landscape. THAT is when I noticed a very substantial framerate drop.

any left over droves just get stuck trying to get into the station and hover over top of it.

Yeah that was my point. That's why I deleted drones until I got down to a number 8 stations could handle. But then I got framerate drop. It *did* clear up after a reboot.

You will need a lot of them to fill up all your cupboards all the time. I have 13 or 14 right now and they are too slow, have to build another 10 at least.

Pretty sure I have way more than 25 drones active. The inventory of the station is just that, storage for the drones. Not an indicator of how many it can operate at once. My drones basically never sleep so it's never an issue. Edit: I Only have one drone station.

You can have more, they just have trouble when there's nothing to do and hover over the station as they can't dock. But you can definitely have more (I have 1 station for 45 drones)

I upped it to 10 that's all I need to keep everything going just fine.
More cupboards more drones, less cupboards less drones.

I'm running 50 drones/two stations on a crappy old i5-3320M laptop and they don't affect my framerates at all. Granted, they sucked before drones but they don'y suck any worse after.
