Why Rockets?
Okay as the title said, thats about it. I am restarting this game again after along break and a few more updates along and considering I am not into the space genre the fact I am landscaping a planet and bring it to life really interests me.

I will no doubt have a few hundred questions later when it comes to tech, but one of the common things I see is people launching rockets and plenty of them. I really need to ask why? Are they necessary? How many? How often etc?

Rockets give a global boost to selected teraforming indexes at the rate of 1000% of base numbers per rocket. In addition, some of the rockets induce a meteor shower that contains either uranium or iridium which is helpful in the early game.

How many? I have found that 5-8 of each is all you really need, but the 1000% boost is compelling enough that some players launch dozens to increase their teraforming rate. Its up to you to find a balance between rockets and planet based machines.

There is also a GPS/mapping system that requires some rockets to put up satellites.

Yes they are necessary, if you want to progress at a decent rate that is. I personally havent sent that many up, maybe 5 or so of each one, but there are some who have sent up 50 or more. You can really send up as many as you feel the need to, based on how fast you want the terraforming to go. As to how often, as often as you feel is necessary, just know that launching one, and then building another and launching it within seconds, the rockets will go off in all kinds of weird ways, but that doesnt effect the bonus you get from them.

Damn, now i feel i did too much. I launched 20+ each.

WOW thank you all that helps understand why they are needed. What happens if you dont use them at all? Does it go slower or do you not progress in the game at all?
starlight78sso Mar 9, 2023 @ 5:13am
It just goes alot slower. I didnt actually launch more than 1 of each at first, other than ones for uranium because I needed it.

Sounds like there are various rockets? Are they for different things and different materials?

They are for different things. heat, pressure, oxygen, plants, insects, etc. each gives a 1000% bonus for each launch.

WOW okay but how does it work in game as in life plants and oxygen work together are they seperate in game?

Ya they are, plants increase biomass, though you do use plants/flowers and trees to increase your o2 as well.

Gotcha thank you all for the help and information, much appreciated, I will really get stuck on the tech later especially the equipment drills etc and rockets when I get to them, but that is for later. Tomorrow I start again from scratch, I will do it in relaxed mode to make it easier on myself and see where I end up this time......LOL

Don't worry. If you're towards the end they help a lot. I had a game where I did a bunch early and I went through stages faster with less machines being built. There's a few ways you can work it for your progression.

I read people state that you need to launch a rocket for every high tier machine you build. Build a T4/T5Heater, launch a rocket (the Heat increasing one, don't know right now which one it is, but it says so in the pop-up description). Same for Drills (Pressure). Seed Sprreader Rockets give an Oxygen boost.

That being said, I also don't have that many, I guess I have about as many as Starlight78sso.

Since we are on it what resources should start to stock in advance for all these said rockets?
CrazedBumblebee Mar 9, 2023 @ 1:07pm
10 of each is generally enough to progress.
More will go faster of course, but there's a DR on it.
1 is 1000%.
1 more equates to 100%
1 more 66%
1 more 25%
And so on...

If you build another machine, the same happens.

So if you have say 5 heaters and 5 heat rockets, that's say 5000 * 5000%.

This gives you 250,000.
If you send another rocket, you'd get another 25,000. If you created another heater instead you'd get another 25,000 too.

4 more rockets would change 250k to 450k, as would 4 more heaters.
But 2 more of each would be 490k.

For me, the advantage of rockets early game is resource return for uranium and iridium. I can usually get 35 to 40 pieces per rocket. After T2 ore extractors I don't care as much about resource return but the rockets are now pretty cheap. I just move my rocket platform to an out of the way spot. The uranium and iridium rockets are the only ones that call meteors.
