T2 Ore Extractor
Haven't gotten there yet but planning ahead. Will T2 extractors dig up more of the targeted ore than their T1 little brothers? A higher percentage of the targeted ore to the other stuff.

Yes, but you still get lots of crap along with the good stuff. T3's are heaven. :steamhappy:

edit, a tip: build a Shredder next to your T2's.

As long as it is a higher percentage I will be happy. As for the shredar - currently perish the thought! I am an old school pack rat and throw NOTHING out. That could change after I get the T2's and still get the 'other stuff' But for now cabinets are cheap and there is plenty of space in my living quarters spread all over the planet :)

T2 also have a bigger storage capacity, you can actualy destroy unwanted ores and use T2 as self replenishing(ish) storage.

T3 have the same storage capacity as T1, but they allow to target a single ore.

I pretty much agree with you. From my perspective, the extra ores that are dug up along with the target ore have greatly reduced my running around picking up stuff on the ground. Except for silicon. That one seems to always be in short supply, but very easy to find running around.

I will probably build a T3 extractor once it unlocks (that's the last one still to go for me) just to check it out and see how it's selectiveness (steam spell checker didn't like that word, but wiktionary does) affects the rest of my ore accumulation.

Besides, for me anyway, rebuilding in order to expand my storage capacity is part of the fun. :)

I just use all the extras to make super alloy.

I agree with part of your statement, except that even with T2 or T1, I always dedicate to base ore generation near my construction project. Usualy it is 10 T1's. It cuts a lot of moving around and a Shredder nearby help focus on what's needed for the project.

However, after T3... You can dedicate one or multiples of those to each base ore, which make for small (15 each) perfectly renewable storage. No more need for Shredder except possibly at your main base to get rid of excess unused mats from upgrading your generators.

With the use of a network of teleporter, there is not much moving around :

Otherwise, I stand by my point that T2 offer a bigger inventory, at a lower cost, but it does require a Shredder.

Thanks for all the info :) Much appreciated!

To shred what? I take all the crap and turn them into Super Alloy.

Much more efficient to have T3's at the Super Alloy cave, I suggest 4.

Edit : Even T2's which are about a bit less then twice capacity, with a shredder, at Super Alloy is more efficient. Moving 6 units around, even with T5 Backpack has a max yield of 5 super alloy... with some effort. T2's can generate and hold something like up to 25 (with some clean-up with shredder). T3's can generate a guaranteed 15. Even a pair of T2's or T3's will give you more bang for you bucks.

Currently I haven't even built one T2 to collect SA, I have T2s for other ores. When I do need more SA I will build a T2.

I've yet to need more than one T2 for each resource.

Well, for me, I gave up mining SA fairly quickly. I was collecting so much of the 6 ores needed to make SA that I just built a "square" large room with an auto crafter in the middle, and lined 3 of the sides with lockers filled with all the ingredients. Whenever I need SA, its way quicker to just go to the auto crafter and start it making SA's. By the time its done, I have the rest of my ingredients assembled to craft whatever machine I need. That method also provides a use for all the extra ore extracted from the rest of the mining locations.

That's another possibility, yeah. I guess it all comes down to personal preference and game-stage. I had 2 T2's and a shredder (+teleporter) for each ore before i unlocked the T3. Now there's 24 T3's next to my base, mining all the bare ores and 16 or so more T3's combined with autocrafters dedicated to crafting all the rods, pulsar quartz and explosive powder.

Wow! Now that's automation! But I'm curious: What's the motivation for mining and making all that stuff? I have reached the waiting-on-fish update stage, have rebuilt my base to my liking, have launched more rockets, added more drills, etc. There's not much else to do except watch the Terraforming index tick up. Maybe you're anticipating a great need for materials after the next update?
Etraman Jan 7, 2023 @ 8:55am
Nah not really. I'm just having fun with the game while waiting for the next update. Once i had the T3 unlocked i figured i just go and setup a mining operation. No need to hop around the map with teleporters anymore, all ore is right next to my base now. :lunar2019coolpig:

What? T3's work anywhere?
