Early Access is not restricteeld, and the price is likely to go up after release (slated for late 2023). So if you really like it I would purchase Early Access even if you don't play it until release. It'll give you dozens of hours (if not hundreds) of fun, exploring, and building.
i may even pay full price if i don't pick it up before the sale ends (my thanks to the dev for providing an extensive demo)
i was just wondering if there are any differences between the Prologue and demo - was the Prologue first and then became the demo?
because i guess the demo ends at 175KTi, but the Prologue goes to 200 - so is the Prologue just a slightly longer version of the demo?
If you've played one, you will not likely notice a difference playing the other.
which is cool - since i am only up to 16KTi on the demo - so maybe i will start again on the Prologue just to see if i notice the updates (after a bit more playing on the demo coz i am already addicted lol)
but definitely going to be buying the game - and am avoiding reading any threads since i am loving the voyage of discovery and i want to experience all of the surprises and cool things without any prior knowledge :-)
thanks again for the info - and i shall be joining the journey through Early Access very soon :-)
(I'm just telling you because I wondered about that when I played the demo... Although I wasn't yet active in the forum here.)
although i am a one life player - and so i am used to restarting games like this from the beginning - although it will depend on the game whether redoing the beginning stages is satisfying enough to be happy about restarting lol :-)
but i suspect i will start a new game if i go straight from the demo to the main game - since i believe the demo is a few versions behind the full game - but i may also play the Prologue, that may be the same version - in which case i may well continue my save
also - on my first life on the demo i ran out of oxygen after about an hour, foolishly not stocking up on canisters for my journey lol - and my second run (that i cam currently on) had a much better start once i knew a bit more about how the game played
and so i am kind of looking forward to my next start to see how quickly i can get to blue sky - am currently at 50KTi and just moved to a new area and was rewarded with the sight of some cool things on the horizon lol :-)
plus unless i am imagining it, i think that sky might be getting slightly less red.... :-)
anyway - thanks for the tip
and yes, i am pretty sure it is simply a matter of when i buy the game, and not if :-)
I don't think there is anything missing between the first 200kTi of the demo and the full game, if that is what you mean.
Anyways, playing HC on your first run - holy mother of whatever, that's not bad. 😱
not quite - i was actually curious because there are actually 2 store pages - one for the full game, which also has the demo - and one for Planet Crafter: Prologue
it wasn't clear if there was any difference between the two - because they have different library pages - the demo has one of the emptyish ones that has the "demo" banner across one corner - but when i installed the prologue just now it seems like it has the full game's library page, based on the news feed - but actually both store pages have that same news feed
they also both install to different folders
and so i wondered if the Prologue was a limited version of the full current game, whereas the demo was an older one
anyway - long story short - they are both the same demo - from the same version of the game (0.5.006) - which i think is the one just before the most recent update
and actually i missed a thread in the prologue forum where someone had the same question
so my bad lol :-)
lol - not actually using the game's hardcore mode - i tend to avoid those modes where they delete your save, since bugs can sometimes cause deaths - and so i just implement the one life rule myself, by sheer force of willpower lol
and i'm not kidding about the willpower - i have restarted runs of many games after having played those saves for almost 100 hours before dying lol
is not actually a willpower thing - since i like restarting games from the beginning
and for the few i don't - or where they have a rogue like mechanic built in - or where it just doesn't make sense to play that way, i don't - but mostly i do :-)
it also means i can play with the standard level of depletion of hydration, hunger and oxygen - or the intense levels - although it would be nice to play with the hardcore ones as well - but like i said, not risking losing the save unless i actually died legitimately lol (and like in say Fallout 4 where you can run past a wrecked car and suddenly die due to weird collision lol)
anyway - of course i should not have gone into that level of explanation - i should simply have said yes, me hardcore, listen to me roar :-)
right - i think i shall have a little play through the Prologue/demo one more time - yes i got to 200KTi and saw the blue sky - and it was very pretty lol - not to mention satisfying :-)
i also left a few wrecks unexplored that i could see in the distance - and i will have to decide if i search them out in the demo - or wait for the main game
also i don't see any point in continuing to play once the terraforming counter stops, since it stops all progression - plus it is also interesting because it means you can actually play around with how you progress in the demo to change how far along the tech trees you get before it ends - but once it ends i feel it is a waste to continue to build or explore - since i am simply denying myself some of the joy of discovery in the main game, where i will also still be accruing those precious terraforming points lol :-)
anyway - i expect i will be buying the full game on Friday so that i can play all weekend :-)
and the dev has fully earned my money with that great demo that i played for at least a half dozen hours or more (says 11.5 but i think i had it loaded the whole time even though i was doing other things) - and i will be sinking another few hours into it now - and i can see myself getting a hundred hours or more out of the full game
anyway - i shall stop my essay there lol
thanks for the comments - and i look forward to playing the full game and being able to post about all the interesting things that i discover :-)
very smart :-)
i don't normally write public reviews - but i may very well do so for this demo - but probably after i have played the full game a bit, so that i can add some information from that perspective (but no spoilers coz i would never deliberately do such a thing lol)
anyway - thanks for the answers people - and i look forward to buying the game and joining you all as we see what magic 2023 has to bring (after i catch up with the current game lol - got maybe a month to do so based on the last announcement and roadmap)
anyway - awesome game - and great initial impression of the community (albeit a sample size of 2 and whichever lovely person gave my other thread an award lol)
thanks all - especially the devs for a great demo of what i am confident is probably one of the best games ever :-)
