Gaining Seeds

In the food grower, it says there is 100% chance of gaining a seed. All Ive ever got back is the grown food. I take the original seed out thinking maybe theres now two in there but nope. So why does it say that?

It means the seed you put in isn't technically consumed.
In earlier releases you got the seed back and had to replant but now it automatically replants in the grower.
You don't get extra seeds
Later in the game you will be able to grow multiple plants from 1 seed but there's still no way of harvesting new seeds from a grown plant.

At some point you'll have built food and/or farms using all the sed packs available but you can create food packs with honey/beans so you never run out of food. I have 10 bases and multiple T2 growers (Aesthetics) and food farms at all of them. Food is never out of reach.

Thanks good to know, I only have one mushroom seed and one eggplant seed lol

Collect as many as you find, you'l need them. Eggplants and Mushrooms are used in production later in the Biolab and Beans and Squash are better food.

Thank you for clarifying that. I wish there was a way. I have only one seed of two varieties.

You can find more seed varieties as you explore and find chests. All see varieties are eventually found in chests all over the map under water and in caves. Some are in caves you need to melt the ice first to get to.

Check the wrecks, especially the big one in the sand dunes area, that one had a bunch of seed packets.
(make sure to check shelves in there)

I have tones of seed packets from exploring wrecks but its not distributed very well. Like 60% is squash, 39 % is egg plant and .5 percent beans and mushrooms lol I have only one bean and one mushroom packet

I don't know how many there actually are of each but so far (nearing breathable oxygen level) I've found about 20 beans, 20 squash and ..... 2 mushrooms (and countless eggplant)

From my understanding, the contents of various chests has a certain level of RNG. Seed packets are part of that, so each play through you could get a different number. No idea what the average would be though.
