I do not have a joystick, controller, or any other inputs except mouse and keyboard. it is not stick drift or because of my inputs. It is how the game works. Stand in your base and do not touch your controller or mouse and you will look straight up and to the right. If you go onto the inventory/menus, the cursor does not move. This is built in to the game.
No controller and I have never used a controller on this PC.
A) it does not happen in any other game
B) It does not happen in the menus/inventory
The character just continuously looks up and to the right. It is not even a constant movement, it changes speed and varies direction slightly.
It could be a side effect of whatever combination of screen resolution, refresh rate, graphics settings, graphics card, or more. In your post, I don't see where you've done any troubleshooting to narrow it down.
Have you taken a screenshot of this happening? Have you filed a bug report?
Have you changed your mouse or keyboard out to see if the problem continues?
Are you using a corded mouse, or a cordless one?
Have you adjusted your mouse sensitivity?
I have quite literally tried every bit of troubleshooting possible. To include different keyboards/mouses etc. Even if I unplug EVERY input device it continues. There is no way that any of this: "It could be a side effect of whatever combination of screen resolution, refresh rate, graphics settings, graphics card, or more." would cause a cursor drift. Resolution? Refresh Rate? How could that make the cursor drift? As for the graphics settings/card/whatever I can say for certain it is not these either. I can run any game/VR with zero issues. I tried over 20 games yesterday without being able to replicate it, except on this game.
So yeah, it is the game.
So no, it is not my keyboard or mouse. Yes it is part of the game. Just because other people aren't experiencing the same issue does not mean it is 100% operator error.
I tried verifying the files and uninstalling/reinstalling too. Hopefully the dev gets back to me fairly soon :)
Unfortunately, yes it still happens.
I do not have VR running/hooked up at this time. I was just explaining that this PC has no trouble running basically anything.
The morale of the story is that some piece of software on your computer specifically is causing your mouse to drift. However, there are a couple of external reasons for drift that you can quickly diagnose:
1. Do you have an animal?
2. Is the mouse cord pulling your mouse with gravity? (mine did this sometimes cause the mouse pad was so slick, had to tie down the mouse cord to the monitor stand to stop it from pushing and pulling the mouse).
Just check to see if anything is moving your mouse externally, could be some random thing that you would normally ignore.
Interfaces in games are normally 2D overlays, they don't respect 3D controls properly so your mouse not drifting in the menus means nothing and pretty much tells me it has something to do with your vr software. Tell steam and your graphics drivers and any other vr specific software to ignore this game for VR purposes.
