Gameplay Question:

So, am I suppose to convert all my seeds into tree seeds? So far, I have only converted the seeds up to 300% into tree seeds but I am hesitant to convert the higher ones. They (the 400+) put out a good amount more oxygen than the 125% tree seeds.

ok.... to keep it simple, lets work with just one seed type... I choose the Tuska seed, which has a multiplier of 400%.

T1 Flower Spreader has ( if you look at it in your build menu) a base production of 161/s oxygen.
Put the seed inside the Spreader and you get ... 161/s x 400% = 644/s
T2 Flower Spreader has 325% base... 325 x 400% = 1300/s

Convert that flower into a Tree Seed (Elegea) and it becomes a multiplier of 125%
Placed in one of the following Tree Spreaders, will have the result of.....

T1 Tree Spreader has a base of 920/s ...... 920/s x 125% + 1150/s
T2 Tree Spreader has 1950/s base ...... 1950 x 125% = 2437/s
T3 Tree Spreader has 12500 base ...... 12500 x 125% = 15625/s


Conclusion... Tree Spreaders are far superior than Flower Spreaders as oxygen producers and well worth converting .

As always... the choice to do so, or not do so, is yours.

I believe this to be correct, although I am not a mathematician and I may have this wrong, If I do.. someone else will undoubtably correct me :)

If you're looking for maximum oxygen output possible, you should convert them all to tree seeds, and put them in T3 tree spreaders.

But I also believe keeping some flowers around is valuable for maintaining some sanity. That part of me is glad I didn't know the golden seeds have a hidden tree version golden flower seeds don't have a tree version , otherwise I would have converted all of them as soon as I could without even considering keeping any.

umm lol... actually the golden seed does infact have a tree version.... the recipe isn't shown in the DNA machine, it's a 'hidden' recipe.. the result from using said seed is a tree seed called 'Pleom" and has a whopping 200% multiplier..
And, yeah, I also like to have one of each of the flowers in a T2 Vegepod decorating the inside of my base and also one of each kind in Flower Spreaders on the outside... coz flowers are pretty....

The Lirma seed(ling)s should be used for Biomass Rockets.
Though I converted one to a tree seed(ling) for variations sake.
(And I think I have a few T1 Biodomes that I haven't got around to deconstructing.)

Save at least a few seeds, because the game is still changing and you don't know what you'll need them for later.

But, apart from Lirma used for Biomass Rockets you can get the seed(lings) back.
Just take the tree seed(lings) out of the Tree Spreaders and run them through the Recycling Machine.

Actually the golden flower DO have an hidden recipe... :-)

There is an unintentional game mechanic with which you can duplicate Lirma seeds if you don't play hardcore. So you can blast all of them into space as long as you keep one for reproduction.

Thank you for all the math folks. I will make them into trees aside from keeping a few to keep my sanity with flowers.

If you only have T1 tree spreaders, you do indeed get better oxygen from a high-multiple flower in a flower spreader. But once you unlock T2 tree spreaders, tree seeds are always better (except for Seed Lirma, which should be launched into space).

- remove your oxygen tank and place it in a locker somewhere (so you die faster)
- get all the resources to build a Grass Spreader (remove everything else from your inventory)
- select the Grass Spreader to build it but don't actually place it (outside of course)
- wait until you die (the very first time twice in a row without any further action but moving outside to make it faster - that way all the items are dropped and not only some of them)
- after the 2nd death you move outside and place the still selected Grass Spreader
- pick up the two loot boxes from your deaths and you should have all the resources back
- rinse and repeat (only one death is required now as everything will be dropped the first time)

Make sure not to do anything while the Grass Spreader is selected (no ESC, no Tab, nothing to deselect it). You can move but that's it.

To get a decent amount takes some patience, though.

Edit: It might be faster to alter your savegame file but I prefer to do the actual legwork, even though it might be considered cheating I see it as an integral part of the coding (intentional or not it is there and it works) so I use it.
