2. It helps to build a small base station next to each extractor location. Fit in at least a shredder and, for extracting Iridium and Uranium, add also an advance crafting station.
3. Spreaders don't need to be placed apart from each other, the game only cares about if it is placed or not. It helps a lot to actually put all Algae generators into the closest proximity you can achieve.
4. Don't put T3 tree spreaders anywhere near your base, you'll regret it.
5. The meteor rubble from rocket induced meteor showers slowly despawns over time. Either wait for it or launch more rockets, every new meteor makes the rubble of a previous meteor from a previous rocket instantly disappear.
6. You can make the big living compartment stack by building a temporary stack of small living compartments next to it and have the ones you want to stack on top snap to the temporary ones.
7. Any resources from meteor showers disappear when you save and reload or die.
8. Meteor showers are centered around your location. Put a building, or your base, into the middle of the area where you want the meteors to come down and stay there until all have come down.
9. If you think you discovered everything, keep looking, there is more.
Normal Mode Start - Follow the tutorial telling you what to build. The only status screens you need to build right now are the Blueprint one and the Terraformation one. The others can wait. Build several blue storage containers right from the start. Don't worry about placement and making things pretty and organized. Don't waste time with that just yet. Collect ice and make plenty of water. Now start hitting every exposed blue crate on the surface. You need food packs, but grab what you can of anything else. Empty crates can be de-contrusted to get 1 iron. Build a wind farm early and keep adding to it until you get solar unlocked. Do whatever you need to unlock the Food Grower as quickly as possible. While waiting for that to unlock get to exploring those wrecks. You need SEEDS for those growers.
If you visit caves with partially melted ice, don't forget to go back later in the game. In many cases caves will open up to either already visited areas (might be a shortcut for you now) or they open to new areas. The now melted ice can also reveal chests and other resources.
Algae machines need to be spaced apart or they will stop producing algae
Later game green meteor storms will drop super alloy. They seem to de-spawn pretty quickly so get out there and harvest them immediately after the storm
I am not 100% positive, but it seems that already searched crashed ships seem to spawn things like seed packs later in the game. Make sure to go back and carefully look on shelves. They can be a little hard to spot.
Be careful upgrading your suit. Pay attention to how much inventory you have occupied if you are upgrading your backpack. Since you have to remove your backpack to upgrade. If you don't have room for what you are carrying all that inventory will sort of blow all over the place. This happened when I was upgrading my exoskeleton resulting in many of my suit upgrades flying off in all directions. My O2 t3 tank went missing. I had to build a T1, T2 and then T3 to get it back. Only after about an hour I noticed it sitting on top of the T1 crafting station.
The water collector can be put on top of a base module. You can then access it from inside your base. Just look up and open it. No need to venture outside to get water. Power plants can also be put on top of living compartments.
If you have a jetpack you can fly through the Biodome T2 dome from the inside to outside. Doesn't work the other way around
De-construct gold chests in the early game to get 1 super alloy.
