Is there anyway in the game to manufacture this? I find some in crates but I run out of it real fast - any assistance would be appreciated

As was said, you need to build a biolab. Also, you need mushrooms to produce bioplastics. My game was a ♥♥♥♥♥ in that it only ever gave me one mushroom seed.

Yeah, that's the issue in my current game. ONly ONE mushroom seed makes the late game seriously crippled.

I acknowledge that I have been playing my current game for 30+ hours...
but in all three of my games since prologue to early access,
I have found at least 11 Mushroom seeds.

Others have agreed with me...there is not just "one" mushroom seed in this game.
Although you could technically continue with only one mushroom seed, but it would be slow and frustrating.

Am I misunderstanding the comments?
You are claiming the game only gave you one mushroom.
Not possible.
The devs would not have created that type of scenario..
You must have done something wrong to experience that.

Eventually you will find all the Mushroom seeds.
There are at 11 (or close to it) to be found.
They can be found in chests (blue and gold I would assume)
and on shelves in wrecks.
I remember finding a few seeds on the upper level shelves in big northern wreck (dunes).

You need to do more exploration. I have tons of mushroom seeds, sitting in a locker because I have no use for that many, but you never know, they may come in handy some day.

I just went through all my seeds in two bases and in 12 food growers:

32 Eggplant
26 Squash
24 Beans
11 Mushroom

I never counted my seeds, but I'm STILL finding them scattered around in various boxes. Both in shipwrecks, random ground locations, a couple downed satellites, etc...
I never planted the beans, but I have oodles of them. Mushrooms do seem a bit more rare, but I've enough for 8, at least?

Go back into the shipwrecks and look closely in the bunk areas. You'll find seed packets beside the beds in the cabinets (not storage lockers you open, just open cabinets with the seeds openly visible)

Not to be a spoiler, but ya might have to pull a map for the locations and find more.

I have 4 each Squash, Eggplant, and Mushrooms in T2 Vege makers. Generally keeps me in enough stock to build up things (I pick 'em, store 'em, and use occasionally)
It's harder with the T1, but doable till you can unlock the T2

I started to re explore the map again and located a couple of missed blue crates. Found 2 more mushroom seeds for a total of 3. Maybe there are more. dunno

the only required bioplastic is algae spreaders i believe.

they cost 2 each and 3 is plenty to complete current content if you harvest regularly and dump the algae in chests.

lake water collector is not needed just make several atmosphereic collectors.
tree spreader T1 is actually worse than flower spreader T2 if you use a 400% plant or better and tree T2 doesnt need bioplastic

the drop is random and there is a chance that you will have only one spore of mushrooms or there will be none at all (although this probability is very small ( 0.07% or 1 in 1428), but this probability is there
