You have to hunt around for the select, and as soon as you are ready to click, it loses grip.
I have left some on the ground, because its very frustrating.
I have found, coming back later, and trying, it sometimes grabs it first time.
I now avoid dropping them...I just don't collect them any more.
Oxygen is easily made from Cobalt, so don't know why you use the methane machine for that?
Guaranteed way to eventually destroy your framerate in *any* game.
Gas Extractors are not for gathering oxygen, there are several better ways to get that. Leave methane in the extractor, transfer it to a storage container or destroy it in the waste disposal.
Why waste cobalt when I can get the oxygen for free (sure, cobalt's free too but there are a few other uses for it.)
And the shredder has only recently stopped seeming too expensive to make.
_Several_ better ways to get oxygen you say?
Apart from cobalt all I can think of is in chests but that doesn't seem like a reliable way to get it when you need it. Not that I need much, I spam living compartments anytime I need to go too far from the last one to make it back without a refill.
I 'drop' stuff, when I have to immediately make room.
I usually intend to pick it up later.
Which is why we found out about not being able to pick up methane tubes.
Because we clean up our crap.
Shut up. (smirk)
...
Why waste Cobalt?. lol the most abundant ore lying around?
and coming out of every Extractor.
Why waste Cobalt?
How about building a pod and stepping inside?...not much need for oxy tanks.
Unless you are living inside one of the wrecks...and you need plenty of oxy tanks to stay alive?
In that case, we're back to the idea of wasting cobalt.
Did I mention its the most abundant ore on the planet?
Make oxygen bottles from the plentiful cobalt scattered all over the map.
Walk into any base module of any shape or size, or the lifepod up until it gets flooded out.
Loot from blue and golden chests.
Loot from cabinets in underground bases.
Really, you only need the first two, but the others are plentiful.
Wasn't replying to your post, but to the OP:
Although dumping methane bottles to make space? How far are your gas extractors from your base are you that you can't pop in, clear your inventroy and come back? Do you go on short range excursions with your inventory already full? (smirk)
I've got it figured out now except if there is any way to pickup the ones I dumped earlier to shred them.
It's no big problem anyway, if I start another world I'll know to build a few shredders a bit earlier. (Or build more storage cabinets) to store them until I have the shredders.
I knew you were talking to OP....no flak intended.
I just had similar experience.
Same goes with OP.
Having fun,,,although Cobalt is the simplest solution for Oxy.
But why you need much Oxy at this stage, is beyond me.
Its easier to carry the basic ores to build a pod and door.
Then, if you are in an isolated location(cave, etc), just drop a pod.
I also install a locker in all my remote pods...with some water and food.
Exploring wrecks is a whole other story.
But those you only need visit once...early in the game.
For those, I install a pod just outside the wreck.
I figured that, which is why I responded in kind, but combined with the rest in case I was wrong. :)
It was you, was it not, who first came up with the idea of building strings of FOBs to avoid having to consume oxygen bottles, back before they were changed from using iron to using cobalt?
I supposed that, which is why I responded in kind, but combined with the rest in case I was wrong. :)
It was you, was it not, who first came up with the idea of building strings of FOBs to avoid having to consume oxygen bottles, back before they were changed from using iron to using cobalt? I do that too, with a crafting station added and a water condenser outside in areas that don't have water readily available. If I have miners nearby I also put a shredder to get rid of excess base ores.
You don't go back to shove a nuclear battery in the ship power plant? Even though the reward for doing so is kinda not worth it.
