Edit: Yes, it has been requested numerous times.
rather than walk a block in five minutes.
You must be fatter than me.
However I really like the OP's suggestion. It really doesn't have to be 'instantaneous' IMHO - just let us set up A-B locations and rather than us spend time going down the same farming route OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND.... we can just click on something and it assumes we took the route there. This is a QoL enhancement I'd really, really use. Anyone who has 100+ anythings has done a 100+ trips to their sulfur, osmium, super, iridium and uranium extractors - and there is NO place that can be near them all. An A-B link would make this game fun again. I've largely stopped playing because I just don't want to make those material runs any more
That and i've already reached the furthest i can attain in terms of unlocks, patiently waiting for the next update that will hopefully include some type QoL enhancements.
People want everything spoonfed these days. Work for a reward? Hell no! Rather cry for mommy and daddy (read: the Devs) to make their life as easy and comfortable as possible. Instead of finding a way to solve or handle a problem they want to be given the solution.
Just look at some (quite a few actually) topics in this forums. The questions are rediculous to say the least and while I am in no position to judge the intellect of those people I most certainly do so for their problem solving capabilities. It's quite sad when you think about it.
they are great for passage between two pods, but if you have to place more than one,
its frustrating and slow to switch from ladder to ladder at each level.
It would be better if you could connect/stack the ladders
so its a simple "climb" click at each level.
Not have to turn, look for, and switch to another ladder at each level.
An elevator of some sort sounds good at first.
BUT...an elevator would still require you to stop and restart at each level.
To introduce an elevator that knew how many levels it must deal with in each structure, and have a way of you inputting a "floor" (some sort of control panel), and then operating that elevator within your structure...would be a complicated element for this game.
Level jumping inside a structure is not an important part of this game.
How about a Lost in Space type elevator?...you stepped on, it travels up or down, one level.
Click it again to travel another level. And so on, as many levels as needed.
It would require the same idea of stacking the lifts.
...
On the same topic, the exterior stairs are also an issue.
I'd like to see other options...
maybe a better stacking or connecting of staircases.
How about taller stairs, or when you place a staircase, you can extend it to the needed height first.
Maybe other outside step options?
I too, am guilty of asking for other types of equipment that would make certain jobs a little easier...
but I agree completely with your post.
Too many requests for making things a lot easier
and not enough consideration of the Devs work.
As if fingers can be snapped to make all these things happen.
We are criminals with a job to do. The job needs to be achievable, otherwise we're just abandoned on a planet to die.
Being able to build a base that you can get between modules of easily is pretty important. Bases don't necessarily need to be multiple levels, but if the powers that be have provided a way for us to move up and down through levels of the base, then that should work well, right?
It's not about wanting it easy, it's about providing the right tools for the job.
For an elevator idea, rather than selecting a floor or clicking the elevator on each floor to go up/down etc... you could literally just have an up/down button and a 'call' button on the outside.
When you build the elevator module, it would be a 1x1 square that you build on the side of your building, but wouldn't automatically automatically create a door to access it.
If you want to access it on a certain floor you can build an elevator call/door section, where a button exists to call it to that floor.
When on the elevator pressing up/down will take you to the next floor that has an entrance.
It might be a little complicated to implement, but I believe the devs are capable of doing it. It would likely only come (if at all) post-launch, as this is not something that is actually needed but rather something people would like so that they can be massive bases and easily get to the top of.
When I camp I use a lighter to start a fire. When you camp I bet you use a bow drill. We both can usually get fires started...
And you'd be provided with basic resources, you didn't have to harvest, but you get basically nothing. and you crash landed. You are nothing more then an experiment, as the previous attempts, if you die, we'll just send another one
and there is a way to move up and down between levels, you can fly or use stairs/ladders.
