What is nK?
I've found discussions on here about what it takes to start melting the ice but I'm still not sure what nK is. I see pK on one of my screens but no nK. My obvious guess is its the pK number for heat but why is pK instead of nK?

pK is pico kelvin, nK is nano Kelvin. Nano is 1000 times bigger than pico

So my heat needs to get to 1000 pK?

Assuming the ice says 1nK, yes. Once you get to 999 pK, the next tick will then read 1.0 nK.

Which is hilariously unrealistic. The planet receives visible light, and Zero Kelvin is the theoretical absolute cold, a total absence of any kind of heat, whatsoever, which would be impossible as the light rays hitting the planet would have given it some warmth.

But hey.

Gameplay mechanics needed, early access game, etc. Just some musings.

BTW, some of the coldest places on earth is about -50F which is 227.594 K. Not pK, not nK, just K.

We're talking about temperatures thousands times colder than the Poles on Earth. If it were really THAT fooking cold, any kind of moisture would instantaneously freeze on the outside of your suit and there'd be no way to keep any kind of water. Heck your body would probably freeze in seconds of stepping outside the pod if you even survived the landing at those temperatures.

oh ♥♥♥♥ so I need 100.000 pK. Cause it says 100 nK to melt ice. Only at 58 pK/s or 206 pK. Gonna be a while

Nah, it goes quickly. Once you start building some more heaters, that number will jump exponentially. Hint: explore the wrecks. Build little huts to replenish o2 and explore the two wrecks visible from the Standard Landing Site assuming you started there. There's lots of iridium in there and you can build more heaters. Also make it a point to go out to that area with the shiny silver spires visible from near your starting location, there's some wreckage there with some t2 solar panels that can be deconstructed and immediately rebuilt into working ones assuming you have the recipe unlocked.

T1 heaters are weak... T2 heaters are way better, and it won't be that long until you get T3 heaters, and you'll be gaining 500, 700, 1,000 pk per second.

Well I have two T3 heaters right now. Bought to send a rocket up right now that says it gives a heat bonus. Gonna add two more T3 as well.

Ice will START to melt at 100 nK. It does not happen all at once. It takes longer for enough to melt so that you can enter blocked caves and begin to see a lake forming. In the meantime, there will still be ice nodes available to gathering. And heat O2 and pressure move up rapidly with better equipment deployed.

Yea, there's some really strange measurements.
