Have you unlocked the rockets yet? Send up a few rockets to increase pressure and it'll start banging along
If power's not going to be a problem build the tech that either increases pressure or build the tech that will result in unlocking a higher grade drill. If power is a problem then look into what rockets you can make, wreck diving can help a ton with this as most if not all my engines have come from loot.
I thought at first that the 1000% pressure boost would last an Iridium Meteor shower, but nope, the boost seems to last forever, and can definitively be cumulated. The more Drills, the more Magnetic Field Protection Rockets : the better.
After days of playing, I was at 23mPa of Pressure. I just launched 3 rockets (took me about 30 minutes probably) and I'm already at 137 mPa. (much much) More in 30 minutes than in hours and hours of using only the Drills.
