This error (EID 1001) is normally the result of a corrupted program. You should verify the game files through Steam. If that does not help uninstall Planet crafter and reinstall.
Updating your graphics drivers wont always solve problems with drivers crashing, sometimes you have to use previous drivers. Try a few versions back, make sure to DDU the current drivers.
Audio drivers are also known to create hard faults, make sure you're using the motherboard manufacturers drivers for those.
Some overlay programs have been known to cause crashes in certain circumstances.
Some antivirus have also been known to false positive game files, it's "best" to make your AV ignore your game folders completely.
Corrupted system files, game files, steam files, etc. can cause crashes as well.
Open an Admin command prompt Winkey+R, type command, right click on command prompt, select run as admin.
Run these two commands(using these in safe mode is better):
dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow
The first one will verify and update the system cache for windows.
The second one will make sure all those files are error free.
The log file for the sfc scan will be located here: %windir%/logs/cbs/cbs.log
If you run this command from the admin command line, a file (sfcdetails.txt) will be placed on your desktop with the relevant errors in it:
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > "%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
Unity has a problem that is very hard to find and sometimes it coincides with an error in drivers to cause these kinds of crashes. It will most often be found in younger games (early access, alpha, etc). Due to the circumstances behind the crashing, it's almost impossible to diagnose and fix in both the engine and the drivers.
The best solution is to find a driver version that works for the game.
Running an (old-ish) i5 myself ... windoze 7 pro, no updates whatsoever , 12 Gigs of RAM and and freaking 710 GT .... no issues so far
My guess, and easy fix, would be downgrade your OS ... I've seen multiple post so far complaining about games NOT running on windows 11 properly because raisins
ps: I also kill the Unity Crashhandler, standard procedure (for me), whenever I start Unity games ... so they don't ♥♥♥♥ me over as they tend to do
The last 2 days I installed a complete new pc (with same old graphics card) and tested multiple games without any problem, but TPC freezes after 30 sec till 1 minute.
I tried every option vsync, framerate, tested other values with msi afterburner, nothing helped.
And than while I played an other game, I saw I had discord overlay still enabled.
I disabled it completely and now TPC works like a charm like before.
So keep that in mind if you have problems.
Honestly, this is bad advice.
Windows 7 is super old and has tons of security holes and driver issues, especially if you don't have any updates.
Windows 11 does not have any issues, i've been using it for months and my machine is actually more stable (my soundbar no longer caused a BSOD when playing external sources).
There "were" issues in Windows 11 prior and just after release, but they were resolved in an update within about a week of release.
The problem (which I believe has likely been resolved now), is that the CPU was overheating. That's not an OS or driver issue, but a hardware issue.
You should consider upgrading to Windows 11, it's much more stable and faster than Windows 7 - don't get stuck in the past.
I so want to agree with this, but i've been building computers myself for 30+ years, and I recently had an overheating issue that took me 2 years to resolve.
Sometimes, available hardware is just not up-to-snuff, especially when you buy the best new thing out and it's not properly supported yet.
But yes, most people don't really know their machines, or how to maintain them. That used to be a good thing for me because i'd charge to repair/replace them :) but now it's just a bunch of people claiming that their PC that cost next to nothing, they've had for 5+ years, that they don't know anything about is the mutts nutts and couldn't possibly have anything wrong with it, so it must the the game that they are playing that's poorly written, even though they're a small minority of people that experience the same issue)
