Is this game hard?
Hi, I've had this game on my radar because I liked the setting and the idea but only now noticed the "souls-like" tag. I like to play for fun and I find Souls, Sekiro etc. way too frustrating to enjoy. Should I avoid this game or is it ok for us casual people who need to unwind after work? Thanks!

I've seen some hardcore souls fans complain its too easy so you should be alright. I'm not far at all but so far its not been very hard. Like you have to watch your enemies because mistakes will hurt you but its all slow paced enough that you have time to watch and learn your enemies, and react to them.
oh! and there are also "Assist settings" that you can activate to make the game easier, lowering the damage you take, making it so you don't lose your currency when you die and improving your stamina so you can get more attacks in...
So if you just want to chillax and explore the cool world while enjoying the combat, but not get stressed out, then you can check those settings out, removing the currency loss on death for example will remove the anxiety from dying. You can toggle the settings at any time so you can start with them off and set them on if any particular part gets frustrating, or turn them on until you have a feel for the game... or just leave them on, who cares :D

If it is too hard, you can always turn the difficulty down with the assist mode. The games default difficulty isn't too bad but it does have some very challenging moments. I 100%ed Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and DS1, for what it's worth. Most everything on this game is pretty easy, with the exception of a few set pieces, and the final few bosses, which can be a pain, particularly if you're underleveled.

I was personally hoping for a game that was a spiritual successor to Greedfall, but that's not what this is. Never before have I played a 'Souls-like' and I don't think the genre is for me. That said, I've turned down the difficulty settings and I am enjoying the world, and the combat is more enjoyable using the assist settings. Spiders games explore some very interesting ideas and settings and I enjoy that the most.

don't worry, Greedfall 2 has already been announced :D No release date but they are working on it.

Woah! This is awesome news, I had no idea. I thought Spiders typically were anti-sequels/prequels. Very happy to hear this indeed! Thanks for sharing.

As mentioned by others there is a assist mode. Steelrising is in many cases easier then other Souls Likes. Here are some examples

- Useables like bombs can be bought in huge numbers. Nearly every enemy can be bombed away with these.
- Early on you get a rifle with frost damage. Some Souls veterans early found out that it's a cheating weapon, because you can freeze enemies and bosses from safe distance and then attack when they are not able of fighting back. Don't know if this got nerfed with the New Game + patch.
- You find or you can buy a lesser healing option which regenerates health instead of healing it immediatelly. But in most cases they are aviable in a good number.

It's a game with much options to give you the decision if you want to play hard or if you prefer the easy way. Me for example, I used these potions I metioned and rarely some bombs. Because I want to discover other playstyles in future playthrough I decided to only one weapon type the battle-fans (If thats the right translation). Here I used all types the counter fan was my favorite at the end. At the beginning I used a ice damage causing fan and the shield version. It was a stun build. I had a lot of fun :-D

Well, Technomancer is a sequel to Mars: War Logs, so its not the first time!

Greedfall 2 already has a steam page btw https://store.steampowered.com/app/1997660/GreedFall_2/
