Autopsy Only Mode, Future Plans & our words on Dead Memories I Devlog #17
Dear Pathomorphologists,

Today, we want to discuss: our future free content update Autopsy Only Mode, which will bring more simulation gameplay, and clarify the differences between Dead Memories and the upcoming Autopsy Only Mode.

Before jumping into the points of the Devlog above, we want to thank the community for all the feedback around Autopsy Simulator since our launch yesterday. We want to reassure you all that we're hearing your feedback around simulation gameplay, our narrative mode Dead Memories, AOM's future features, and more. All of your feedback and suggestions here on Steam are monitored and raised to the team working on Autopsy Simulator.

Autopsy Only Mode
Firstly, we want to discuss Autopsy Only Mode, the upcoming free update to Autopsy Simulator! Yesterday, we announced our Autopsy Only Mode is now in development, bringing a new sandbox-style game mode to Autopsy Simulator. Below is some key information regarding our upcoming game mode:

- Autopsy Only Mode takes place in the morgue only, with players able to interact with items and tools in the morgue's key rooms. This includes the Laboratory, Storeroom, and the integral area, the Dissection Room.

- This content update will focus on simulation gameplay, with players' Autopsy Examinations being scored in a grading system. Your score will be determined by several variables including the timing and speed of your work, the flow of the autopsy, performance in tests, and more. Tests in Autopsy Only Mode can be failed, which will have a larger effect on your final scoring.

- Autopsy Only Mode features randomised causes of death. It's your aim to examine the body, conduct external and internal tests, and correctly verify the patient's cause of death. Then it's time to close and stitch up the body before discovering your final score!

Dead Memories
We'd also like to use this Devlog to clarify the features of Dead Memories, our standalone game mode which released yesterday:

- Dead Memories is a story based game mode. You play as Jack Hanman, a middle-aged pathologist. After a career downfall and the loss of your beloved wife, you live each day exhausted. One day during a post-mortem, you find a relic of your past hidden inside a body. Now, it feels like something just won’t let go. Follow the journey of Jack, a practice pathologist and unravel the mystery of both the patients deaths' and discover more about Jack's life, which has taken a turn for the worst.

- Our story mode is a blend of two contrasting genres- Psychological Horror and Medical-Sim gameplay. This game mode is narrative-driven, with five bodies to dissect, and contains several horror moments and jumpscares throughout.

- Dead Memories contains five hours of content, with the story mode containing multiple endings.

- Dead Memories is our standalone game mode for launch which contains five hours of content, with Autopsy Only Mode implemented in an upcoming free update. Autopsy Only Mode brings more simulation gameplay in the future, with more details found below!

More details around our story mode development focus can be found in our previous Devlog #15:

Devlog #15 - Our Focus on Story Mode
It's time to locate and throw on your nitrile gloves, as we have several updates to discuss regarding Autopsy Simulator in Devlog #15!

We're excited to bring our 'Autopsy Only Mode' to our game and know the community is eager to see more details of this game mode soon! We hope you'll be patient with us while our team works hard to improve Autopsy Simulator and work on our upcoming content update, which will see more simulation gameplay added to our game!

We'll have more details to share about Autopsy Only Mode soon- until then, keep those scalpels sharp! 🔪

Really optimistic about your description of the Autopsy only mode. It has to be acknowledged that in my opinion, the only reason devs have seen such heated criticism is because people can see the potential in this game for the medical sim they've always wanted and it's highly unlikely that any other game will be along soon that has the same graphical fidelity, game mechanics and sandbox potential
I'm imagine it can't be easy to hear a lot of criticism about something that you have worked on for so long, but that time is far from wasted because the foundation has already been laid for something that can truly be a masterpiece

Still bizzare to not include sim mode and only release it post launch

Wish the Autopsy mode had the option for no rating, or rating. I feel there'd be too much pressure to be fast rather than accurate

features cost money.. and the game is functional .. they obviously ran out of funds and needed a story based game for streamers to drive sales.

how about fixing bugs on the prolog

Get a real pathologist and then simulate his working day, then it would deserve called a simulator.

Awesome. Can we have a mode that has the Protag stfu?

Because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ homie. HOMEBOYS.

He. Needs. To. Shut. The. Actual. ♥♥♥♥. Up.

Awful voice acting. Did you even allow him to understand which lines were going where or did you do him cold turkey and just give no instruction or context?

I'm guessing the latter as this is just a Mortuary Assistant ripoff that was delayed and STILL is just an overall garbage experience with over the top cursing, siging, crying, yelling randomly, to make it seem edgy enough for streamers to pay attention to.

Another lazy one from Team17.

I expected no less. :steamdeadpan:

Going into making the autopsy only mode, please consider NOT adding a timer for the speed of your work during the autopsy. I would prefer to take my time and learn from this experience rather than be stressed out and worried I am not working fast enough to get a decent score. Please consider this, thanks!

Co za TheBill wpadł na to, żeby będąc POLSKIM twórcą nie zrobić POLSKIEGO dubbingu, tylko napisy?
Kogoś tam chyba po𝝿erdoliło...

Hi Tom, are there any plans regarding story mode? The ending feels a bit cut and confusing.
Big Rob Jul 31, 2024 @ 12:07pm
There needs to be a wide variety of different types of cadavers in autopsy only mode.

is there any development of the issues people raised in the reviews? last annoucement was fro its release despite OP talking about future plans.
Unfortunately I have a game breaking problem. When I have to put the blood into the centrifuge and then look into the journal to set the speed etc., the journal no longer closes. It is then totally blocked and I have to close the game with alt F4. That's such a shame because I was really looking forward to the Only Autopsy mode.:steamsad:
