Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Weapons accuracy?
I am new to playing OP:DR after playing Arma2 and I wonder if there is any way to increase the accuracy of my shots. E.g. there is a single mission where my fireteam has to take over a lighthouse, and I have a sniper rifle. It seems quite random if my bullets reach the target. I have played around with the scope markings considering bullet drop but so far I was unable to figure out the logic of the gun...
It is quite frustrating as the enemy AI is extremely deadly even on normal difficulty.

I absolutely emphasize with you and share your impressions. Sometimes it frustrates me to try over and over again the same level, like for example the defence of that village against chinese Armed forces.
That game is truly tricky in general.
Even when shooting at a small range the weapons Prove to be highly inaccurate. It is simply so hard!
On top of that I distinguish no way to help oneself achieving a level without trying 20 times.

Your're right, the missions are quite unbalanced (USCM fireteam of 4 members vs. dozens of PLA fighters appearing out of the blue). I am yet to check out the user-made custom missions though.

The ai is quite brutal but thats the fun of the game really punishes those who act as 1 man armies with no thought of cover.

Sniper is one of my favorite weapons, granted it can take me a few shots to hit something. If you miss look for where the bullet impacted the dirt should have a small puff of dirt. Compensate and aim higher/lower it doesnt take much to compensate assuming you were close. The notches on the scope help very little if your measuring.
