Crysis® 3

Crysis® 3

How intrusive is the Origin launcher?
Is the Origin launcher like Uplay, where I just need to login and away I go? Is it as simple as that?

While I do regard Origin as software pollution, I think I can tolerate it. ('toleration is a forgotten word today. Locke's, Letter Concerning Toleration is the only salvation for our times) Crysis 3 is a landmark pc game that I've lusted after for 7 years!

It runs in the background when you press play and then closes when you exit the game. You have to go looking for it to notice it.

It ain't bad, Uplay on the other hand is aweful.

some people are saying that they have to do 2 Crysis 3 installations, one for steam and one for origin, then delete the steam version, and then finally, launch the game from origin. Is this your experience?

EA is gonna lose 4 to 5 game sales from me if their launcher is software trash.

Am I tolerant when I do not tolerate intolerance?

No. You install from your Steam library, login to Origin once only and then you play the game as normal for Steam and any other EA game without having to login again.

Lol, I don't think Locke would give a flying fluke about the question and every single possible answer to the question. Note the incoherence anyway. Why ask a question whether you're tolerant or not when you've already admitted that you're intolerant?

How's Crysis 3, any good? is it worth installing origin to play it?

I've only tested this new Steam/Origin stuff with Burnout Paradise, but it's pretty unintrusive in my experience. I'm thinking about getting Crysis 3 on Steam now and maybe even the new Star Wars game since the Origin experience is not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Here's what I said on the Burnout Paradise Remastered forums.

I set up Origin to not run at startup, but if you do that, you can have Origin not run in the background all of the time. You launch this game from Steam (even in big picture), then Origin loads briefly, then the game loads. When you're done with the game, exit it, and Origin closes soon after the game closes. It's actually decently okay. I don't mind this setup very much. I didn't even have to put in a key like back in the day with Games For Windows Live games.

Someone didn't get the Homer Simpson quote...

I got the game last night. It's just like it is with Burnout Paradise Remastered. You'll never notice Origin when you're not playing any EA games. Just make sure you have "run at startup" turned off if you see it in your system tray, especially after a restart. It's not necessary. Origin flat out isn't running on my PC right now, and all I did to make that happen was exit the last game I played that used it. One closed right after the other.

Thanks, but I've given up on EA games and the horrible origin launcher. In an ironic sense, I won't be noticing Origin, nor will I be playing any EA games. A real pity, I feel.

you cant play offline with origin. the whole app is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ browser, it doesnt load the cards for your games, it doesnt load the play prompt buttons. it used to be that if you wanted to play offline you had to set that before actually going offline. now even that ♥♥♥♥ doesnt work.

Enjoy not playing any EA games, like the future Dragon Age 4, if you can't tolerate having the origin launcher running in the background.

Uplay and Origin work perfectly fine on Windows 10 with no issues. I have dozens of games across both and do not notice the launchers once game is launched.

It's your loss really. This 'horrible' launcher simply appears for half a second and then the game starts once you launch from Steam. You only ever have to login once when your first buy an EA game and that's it. You don't have to sign into the window each time or run the game through Origin at all.

99.9% of people moaning don't even own the games in the forums they are posting in and end up basing their assumptions on stereotypes from 2014. I understand they are incredibly bitter at EA and I don't blame them but there's no point in making a mountain out of a molehill with problems that don't even exist.

Dragon age is DEAD, all of the original bioware have left EA, gaiden left after anthem. so i dont trust anyone else to handle morrigan. The guy who is left have a dislike for the warden story holding them back....so....screw it......im not missing it

But the launchers notice you...
